Gallbladder test results in....

Post by Carol Arnett »

Hi everyone,

I finally got the results of my HIDA scan, via my docs nurse.

It seems I have a "Lazy Gallbladder". Never heard of such a thing before.
My GB is apparently normal in size but is only functioning at 7%. That`s almost dead, LOL!

My PCP has referred me to a surgeon whom I will see on Feb. 23rd.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it somehow related to MC? What was done about it? Tex, any input? I can`t find much of anything on the web but I did read that it was related to autoimmune issues.

Anxious to hear anyones response. Love, Carol

Hi Carol,

Yep, my gallbladder decided to laze around before it was removed too. It looked perfect, good size and color when I had the first test. I continued to complain of symptoms and the doc put me through a test that showed how fast it emptied. NOT - I think mine was at 9% or some such low number!

Luckily the surgery is minimal compared to what it once was. You'll be good as new in no time!

Love,
Mars

Carol,

My gallbladder was slow as well and I had Laprocopic surgery to remove it 2 years ago.

Hope all goes well.

Hi Carol,

Sorry to hear the news. There seems to be some correlation with autoimmune diseases, and probably with MC, but having the gallbladder removed rarely seems to help with MC symptoms. In fact a fair number people who don't have MC, experience D problems, after having their gallbladder removed, because of the bile issues that Wayne mentioned.

Good luck with whatever you and your doctors decide to do.

Good Luck with whatever you and your doctor decide. I had never heard of Lazy Gallbladder either. Sounds like it might be pretty common though from the posts here.

Thank you all for your good wishes, support and information.

I am not afraid of GB surgery (have had much worse). What I worry about most is the possibility of D after it is gone.

The same surgeon would be doing it who did Harrys 1-1/2 years ago and I liked him and his approach very much. Will see what happens. Love, Carol
