Pat & her husband Billy & Robert & I went out to our elder sister Kathy's place last Saturday for a little gathering to celebrate her 70th birthday. Had a very nice afternoon although I got a bit of a flareup starting just before we left to come home & had to make 3 stops, the last one pretty desperate but I just made it. Most of Kathy's family were there along with old friends. She has Great Grand children & great great grand children & Pat & I were starting to feel pretty old being introduced as "Great Great Aunt" & even
I made Kathy a lap quilt for her birthday. Here she is below with her quilt.
Brother Buddy, Pat Me
Three sisters
That's Kathy on the right. She doesn't look like a great grand mother.
Eldest brother Bob was in hospital & youngest brother Geoff was away on holiday so there was just the four of us siblings there.
Pat started her chemo treatment on Thursday but they had put 2 of the canulas in the week before. She now has another one in because she has a heart condition. She started having angina attacks during the treatment so they had to adjust things a bit bit she came through Ok although very tired.

Thanks Shirley. I wanted to give her something special seeing it was a special birthday. I did one for Pat a couple of years ago &m it had pansies too ( see photo) But I will have to make her a colour wash one like Kathy's. A present for when she gets well again.

Wow! You don't mess around when you make a quilt, do you. That's a real work of art.
I have three brothers and two sisters, too, and we seem to have trouble getting together, too, sometimes, even though we don't live all that far apart. I notice you all have the same smiles.
I hope the rest of Pat's treatments go more smoothly.

Liz you are truly gifted!! thats an awesome piece of work...Do you sell them? apart from giving as gifts..i love quilts but they are so expensive to buy mail order. Theres nothing quite like a hand made piece of crafting...well done!!
No Angy, I don't sell them. I only make things for the people that I love. All seven of my grandchildren, my three daughters, one son-in-law and both sisters now have at least one of my quilts, some more. I also like to make other things such as cushions & handbags. Once again, only for my family & close friends. I also make small items for sale at my VIEW club to raise money for disadvantaged children.
You can have a look at some of my other quilts on my website.
I really love making them. The first one that I made, the fairy one, was for our youngest grand daughter Anisha. It was probably not the best but she loved it and I was hooked from then on. The Rosy Heart one now sits on her bed as well. I have another one nearly finished for Indiabeau. He is ten now and has almost outgrown his Popeye one. I also have two more tops waiting for me to get around to quilting them.

I understand being "hooked". I have always enjoyed sewing and even made a lot of my clothes when I was in high school (more to save $ than anything). I took up quilting about 15 years ago. Even in some of my worst flares I could sit behind my machine or have a quilt on my lap to be handquilting. I need to figure out how to incorporate the pictures in a posting and then I could show you one or two of mine.

There are several ways to add pictures to your posts. Here's the simplest way:
While composing a post, when you get to the spot where you want the image to appear, simply click on the "Add image to post" link just below the message-composing window, and a window will open in your browser which will allow you to browse to an image file stored somewhere on your computer. All you have to do is to select the image file that you want to display, click on the "Upload It! button, and the system will automatically take care of the rest. Before you upload it, you can choose to add a caption for the picture, if you wish. Once the system places the image link in your message window, you can also cut and paste it, if you decide you would like to move it to a different location within the post.
That link is not available on the "Quick Reply" form, so if you want to add an image to a response to someone else's topic, you need to click on the "postreply" button first, and use that form for your reply, instead of the "Quick Reply" form.
