Hi JoAnn,

I'm a little late here but would also like to throw in my 2 cents worth in favor of Entocort. Those side effects are rare because about 90% of the Entocort stays in the gut and in NOT absorbed into the body. This is not true with prednisone, where virtually all of it is absorbed into the bloodstream and then can negatively affect the body, eventually causing cataracts, osteoporosis, moon face, diabetes, etc.

Your post points out something that we have commented on before - how much more receptive and flexible PCP docs are compared to the GI docs. We have recommended that folks try to get their MC treatment thru their PCPs when they have difficult or closed-minded GI docs. PCPs are generally more interested in what their patients have learned about diet, alternative treatments, etc., too.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Love,

Polly

Hi Polly, thanks for your input. I'm doing really well on the entocort and hope the progress continues when it comes time to taper off. I wonder why gi's are so in the dark when it comes to mc? It doesn't seem like it wouldn't be that hard for them to figure a few things out especially if they were open to their patient's experience. Thanks, JoAnn
