One of the slain officers was the next-door neighbor of Mike's best Air Force buddy...so we met him at Scott's get-togethers a few times. He leaves behind a wife and 3 kids - about the same ages of mine. So sad. The senseless violence that has become all too commonplace in society has GOT to stop!
God bless all of those who selflessly serve and protect all of us as police officers...what a thankless job. These guys are true heroes...
Yes, it is a deplorable situation we are in these days. I'm so sorry for all the men who lost their lives and their families and friends. We certainly have come a long way from the beliefs upon which our Constitution was founded. Life doesn't seem to mean much to other people anymore unless it is their own and your property is fair game for anyone who can take it from you. Guess I'm feeling a bit morbid today. Sorry

We are definitely under the influence of extreme Godlessness, that's for sure! I like the expression, "There is a God, and He ain't you!"
Shirley, you know your history! In founding years of our country, our Constitution and early documents were said to be unworkable without a general subserviance among the citizens to
Divine Providence. There's alot of documentation to that effect from the signers. Just wish our school history and civics books bothered to quote some of those people verbatim! I think even some of the teachers would be shocked at what's in some of the correspondence among those founders.
People need to have internal controls to their behavior as it's impossible to police every transaction that occurs among our citizens. What we do when no one is looking is what makes us have good character. Nowadays, it seems that the only thing people are sorry for is when they get caught.
I just wish we had more men willing to be committed fathers and husbands these days. Think children have so much better a chance of growing up well adjusted with both parents living in a loving marriage.
I was fortunate in that I had such a loving home in which to grow up. Nowadays, the the majority of kids don't have that growing up -- so sad, isn't it?
Recently I was watching a video of a children's choir, and was shocked to see how sad most of their expressions were compared to kids that age a few years ago. It was more apparent to me since I've been more or less homebound during the last ten to twelve years with the caregiving situation. It came as quite a shock seeing this obvious change in facial expressions in children this young. Has anyone else noticed how sad children look these days? Maybe if you've been around them consistently over the last decade or so, you'd not have noticed as much as I did, not having been around them for that long.
It's hard not to notice the obvious in our society, that's for sure. May as well tell it like it is, unpleasant or not.

I am in total agreement with you about this.
