Bile Salt Malabsorption
Can anyone explain to me very simply what bile salt malabsorption is and what it's connection with MC is or give me a link to an easy to understand explanation? Thank you.

Faith,
Bile salts are merely conjugated bile acids. Since the purpose of bile acids, (and salts), is to emulsify dietary fat, (among other things), I would assume that a bile salt malabsorption issue would simply imply a diminished capacity to emulsify dietary fat, thus resulting in fat malabsorption. IOW, I'm guessing that the term "bile salt malabsorption" refers to fat malabsorption, due to an issue connected with bile salt function. I could certainly be wrong, of course, since this is just a guess.
This gives a pretty decent coverage of the function of bile acids and salts:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
