Thank You Tex, Dee, Lyn, Jan and All of you who have replied.
Dee I totally understood your post and did not take it in a negative way nor did I find it offensive in anyway. I too like to keep on smiling it's just that right now I'm focusing too much on the "negative" instead of being more "positive". It was because of this reason I turned toward the "boards" for some possible suggestions because my emotions; physically and mentally were in the TOILET!
It's a little late tonight to find answers when I have to care for my grand-daughter; Bailey tomorrow and have to be up early. One thing for certain is that being with her keeps on my toes but her smile and loving kisses make me feel so much better.
Right now I'm fighting really hard not to cry but I'm sooooo tired and I don't understand WHY our Gov., Drug Com. as well as some Dr's have to make things so damn hard for people to critical care so that they can start living with their illnesses instead of being placed in a position where they feel hopeless.
I truly love each and everyone of you very much.
Love and God Bless:
Jodi

Free medicines
Dear Jodi,
I can empathize with your plight with the medication you need.
Did you know that if you ask your GI and your PCP for samples they will most likely have them?
When my GI found that I had no insurance to cover Asacol he told me not to worry, that they could supply me with all I need. Same thing with Plavix for my husband. When he was first prescribed that I asked if they had any samples until we could get the script filled and was told they could do even better than that. She whipped out a form and told me to bring it back the next day. Not only did she give us samples for 2 weeks but within a week my husband was getting a 3 months supply straight from the manufacturer. We just have to re-apply every three months. We get a few other prescriptions in the same way.
The only thing we have had no luck with is Spiriva which my hubby needs for COPD. Phizer uses both our incomes but will only accept what he pays for RXs. When our PCP found out the cost (they have NO idea) he called the drug rep himself and now Harry is getting that through his office.
Our daughter is a nurse and she and our doctors have all said that samples serve two purposes...to let the patient try a med to see if it works for them and to supply people with no insurance or not enough to cover the cost.
Instead of groveling to the manufacturers, (which is what I have done with Phizer) try making a couple of local calls tomorrow and see what happens. I`m sure you are like me. I absolutely hate asking for help of any kind but when it comes to your health it is sometimes necessary.
If you are told no, we don`t have any samples right now, ask if they will call the drug rep and see when he or she plans to be in next. I wish you luck and better than that, wellness. Love, Carol

Jodi,
I took Sulfasalizine for my arthritis, but could never get it up to full strength b/c of the side effects. It made me very nauseated. We tried 3 times to gradually increase the dosage, but I just could not handle it. Also, I had to have blood work (to check my liver enzymes) every week for a month, then every two weeks and then I was suppose to come in once a month.
BTW, I have almost a full prescription of Entocort that I would gladly send your way (I am not kidding).
Love,
Rose
