Hi Dee,
I noticed your comment about Asacol having lactose and being out for anyone with a dairy intolerance. But then I thought you and I discussed lactose in pills once and you said you had a medicine that had it but didn't seem to affect you.
I'm still struggling to reach "normal" and my medicine does contain lactose. Guess I really should try to do without. I haven't tested soy yet either and have found some good recipies for pumpkin bread (that last week I made GF, DF, rice free, and sugar free...and it was AWESOME). I made it with my nieces rice allergy in mind, but could switch to rice milk for myself.

Hi Polly,
I am better, and the D isn't exactly D anymore...long thin poops. The pain is mostly gone, although I still get occasional waves of the cramping feeling.
But I still don't trust that I'll have dry farts, and I pass quite a bit of mucus throughout the day.
But, as my GI told me, I'm not sick, I just have a nuisance!
Hope you are well.

Katy,
The thought crossed my mind that maybe you don't have a GI doc - you have a nuisance.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Pharmaceutical grade lactose is supposed to be pure, (IOW, casein-free). Since industrial grade lactose is cheaper, though, one might need to be suspicious in some cases.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
