Pat - you okay?
Pat,
I just heard on the news tonight that your area got hammered with high winds and rain. Just thought I would check to see if you were okay.

I'm kind of wondering, too. It looked to be pretty rough around Willow City, before I went to bed, and I kept an eye on the radar most of the day, and every time I checked for hail potential, there was usually some in Gillespie county, or not too far from it.
We were lucky here, and just had a good, soaking rain.

Thanks for asking. Yes, we are all OK. We had a pretty severe storm last night and got 1 1/2 inches of very needed rain. No hail at our house. My first patient this morning who lives in the western part of the county had over 3 inches and hail and their electricity went out and was still out when she came it at 8:00. We had some more rain during the day, another inch DH says. Sun is out now.
Believe it or not we had more Painted Buntings today. 4 male and 2 female all at the same time. DH got some more pics and I will post later. Got to fix dinner now.

Could anyone tell me if the severe weather in Texas was anywhere near 'Umble (Humble) where my niece and her husband live? They haven't been there very long. It will be a year come July. Any info you can give me I would appreciate so I don't over react. LOL Like the true Aunt and Uncle we are here we don't want to look too overly protective.

Jodi,
I was familiar with the name but had to pull the map out to find out where Humble is. It's north of Houston. I do know on the 6 p.m. news they said Houston was under a tornado watch. I live near Austin so don't always get much Houston news. Sorry I can't give you any more info than that.

Hi Jodi,
The rains are moving through there right now. As you can see by the link below, most of the heaviest stuff has already moved through, and is near the coast.

Here's a map of watches and warnings, (they are in the gold-colored severe thunderstorm warning area, in the southeast corner of the state:
Edit: Oops, it's just been changed from a TS warning, to a flash flood warning: That doesn't necessarily mean that they are in any danger - it depends on the lay of the land where they live. We've been on the northern edge of a flash flood warning area most of the day, here, but there's no flooding evident around here. The weather forecasters tend to err on the safe side, most of the time.

You can view their current conditions, and their forecast, by clicking on the "Local Weather" link, at the top of any page on our own site, here. When you get to the weather page, scroll down to near the bottom of the page, and just below the weather map, where it says "Enter a city or US zip:", enter the name of the city you're interested in, (Humble), click on the "Search" button, and it will give you a menu of cities named "Humble", (if there's more than one in the US). Pick the one you want, (Humble, TX), and click on the "Get Weather" button.
Love,
Tex

Pat,
Wow! You must be living in "Painted Bunting Alley".
Glad the weather didn't get too ugly. That's what we wound up with - two and a half inches of rain. It was just what the corn crop needed.
