Ahh-taxes!
I am in CA, we had a special election yesterday to try and save the state from financial disaster by passing propositions to allow spending to increase despite no $$...
Coincidentally, I was in Sacramento on a 4th grade field trip - we went to the Capitol building - visited the (empty) senate chambers and I asked our docent - "Where IS everyone, and why aren't they in here "working" on the budget?!"

- Apparently they only convene 2 half-days a week

The "governator" was in D.C - so no "sightings" but they did allow us into his private reception area - the kids bounced on the sofas and oohed and aahed over "Terminator" memorabilia....
We did get to pan for gold near Sutter's Fort - which was *way* cool

I guess there is a guy who mines a claim somewhere on the American River - on a good day he finds $1800 worth of gold - and he sells some of it to the souvenir shops...
2 things are certain in life - death and taxes - ain't that the truth!
