bloating?????
when your bloated do you have alot of pain with it? I really havent been bloated to know if there alot of pain associate it with or not .
Tami,
Yes, the pain that goes along with bloating was always very severe, whenever I was bloated.
With MC, the bloating is usually due to either gluten in the diet, or dairy products, but it can also be due to residual damage to the intestines, caused by previous gluten in the diet. There are other possibilities, but gluten, and/or dairy products, are the most common causes.

Oh my yes it is painful. Had a bout of it this week. First time in ages. Belly swelled up like a basketball and I thought it would explode. After three days I took a gelusil and ended up with D so the next day I tried one of my husband's prevacid solutabs before I went to bed.. by morning I was fine and the D was gone. Have no idea what caused the problem or why the one prevacid worked.

Hi Ant,
Yes, the descending colon, and the Sigmoid colon, especially, seem to be the weakest portion of the colon, and the most vulnerable to significant expansion. Diverticulosis, of course, can add to the problem, by contributing to the formation of "pouches", which bulge out, away from the wall of the colon, and the Sigmoid colon is usually the center of activity for diverticulosis. Sometimes, though, my bloating seemed to be worse in other areas.

I was exactly the same way, for a couple of years. I believe that has to be due to a lot of small intestinal damage, to affect the production of so many different enzymes.Pat wrote:The best is for me to not eat any sugar. Period!

Aha.... so not too unusual.
I will keep an eye on any apparent relationship to sugar and bloating in my case. My colonoscopy report last November noted "No polyps and no mucosal inflammation. Many diverticulae were present throughout the length of the colon". The doctor said that this did not mean I had diverticulitis, but that it could develop and I should be aware of this. He added that many people have diverticulae.
Thanks again for your response to my question, best ant.
PS. (I remember my father was diagnosed with diverticulitis and in the 1980s and 1990s and was advised to eat muesli and yogurt.....)

Pain most definitely.
I had to do some searching for bloating on here..
Good lord, I was feeling so good I ate some Cherry Garcia Frozen low-fat yogurt last night. It's loaded with Bing cherries and big chunks of dark chocolate. I feel like one of those big balloons from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade today.
This is the first day I have felt this bad in almost a week. It is all my own fault. Woe is me.
