Major rash :shock:

Developed a major rash on my neck and shoulders..(its not an asacole rash)

Im thinking it could be prickly heat!! but i have never had prickly heat at that level in my life....I have also been doing some gardening and ive discovered theres a plant out there that was growing at the bottom of wall under my window...I dug it up and potted it cos i liked it...lol!! I left it in the garden with the other potted plants..Any way we had some awesome sun here the past 2 wkks it was in the eighties...

I dont suntan too much really but i did sit out with suncream of course...3 days later my neck was all blotchy..I assumed it was prickly heat but like i said i have never had ph at that level in my life..only minor .Now this has been going on for a week now this rash has spread onto my arms ..Anyway im wondering about that plant too because it looks like poison ivy...

Is there a possibility that now having mc i might have become more allergic to the sun or do u think that supplements and possibly asacole could cause an allergic reaction to the sun...Im thinking its either prickly heat or than evil little plant who hates me for digging it up hehe

Some medications can cause a rash when you're exposed to sun. Bactrim (which I'm allergic to) gave me a rash the first time I took it.

Also, some plants can cause a rash, but I would think the rash would only appear at the point of contact. Is your rash itchy? Poison ivy is extremely itchy from what I recall.

A third consideration would be the suntan lotion. I break out in a rash when I use any cream containing soy, one of my intolerances.

Those are my thoughts. You might want to take an oatmeal bath. That was soothing to me when I had a rash from laundry detergent.

Angy--Im thinking POISON IVY-----that evil plant U decided to dig up to add as U said---*getting back at ya for digging it up*
Maybe it didnt like the move to different homesteads and tis letting ya body know!!!

Lou always catches poisin ivy and he does have a sauve for it---

Sorry to hear about the rash. I don't know much about dermatitis, so my guess as to what it might be, wouldn't be worth much. I would sure be suspicious of that plant, though. I'm not familiar with the different species you have in Scotland, but there is also poison sumac, and poison oak, and probably a bunch of others, to look out for.

While it's certainly true that a rash caused by contact with a plant resin, should only appear at the point of contact, it can be easily spread by way of the exudate, if any scratching, or rubbing takes place. If there is no drainage, or crusty patches, though, (and it doesn't itch like mad), it probably isn't due to a plant resin.

I would sure look that plant up. My mom is so allergic to poison oak that she gets a rash from the fumes...she doesn't have to touch it. She can walk by it and get it. She takes baths with epsom salts and very hot water, and that helps a lot.

i used cider vinegar on the rash, god it stung like hell but i have to say its getting much better....
