The only hummingbirds we have here are Ruby Throated. People out west get more variety, I have read, and I've seen some really awesome pictures.
The bear has not returned to my bird feeder yet but it usually takes a few days between visits, I have heard, since they may have a 50 mile radius to cover. HaHa Last confirmed visit was Wednesday morning (or Tuesday night) so it's probably due at least by tonight unless it skipped us this time.
Thanks for the hint about the pepper. I may end up trying it.
I must admit that I didn't mind driving the Kubota (I spelled it wrong in the other post). It was kind of fun mowing with it but I think I still prefer to stay on level ground. Not going to take it up on the hill. HaHa With my luck I'd get it stuck somewhere and I truly hate to ask for help.
It must be marvelous to be at your cabin. Everything you've posted regarding the area sounds (and looks) wonderful.

Well if you don't happen to own a "coonhound" then the pepper is the next best thing!
This year I had electricty, H2O, and satellite T.V. installed. Otherwise Rita said she wouldn't come with me. After 15 years of doing without and it being a "guy's" place, I'll bet you by the time August comes around the windows will have curtains, throw rugs all over for me to trip on, probably even a mtching set of dishes in the cupboard Truth is I am ready for it to be upgraded, and it will be a very special treat to have her there for two months.

Wow! All the comforts of home. Nice! I'll bet you won't regret it.
How's the healing coming along? Well, I hope.

The healing is coming along very well. I was told to slow it down a little, I'm getting a little too far ahead of myself. Basically my wife ratted me out to the doctor. I have been very lucky as the weather has not turned for the summer, by now we're usually in the mid 90's, but it's been more like the low 70's and some light rain and T-showers. It has definately been helpful, my little stretchy shirt feels like a parka and I would be very miserable if it was hot.
As for the upgrades, no I won't regret them. I will miss not hearing that blasted T.V. but nowadays I'm willing to compromise a little more.
I put up a few pics for you.

It sure sounds like upgrades are in your future but watch out for those throw rugs - Frank had a bad fall this winter on one I put down and now they all have those "grabber" mats under them.
Bet you will love the matching dishes best.

I agree with you - TV is one thing that I don't care for in a campsite, but electricity and running water sure are nice.
I think we're having your weather, here, this year. It's consistently 10 to 15 degrees warmer than normal, and dry as a bone.
Thanks for the photos.

Shirley,
This is Josie, her and I were best friends for many years. She was a fearless protector, watching over us like a flock of sheep. She watched over the neigborhood kids as well, and would not allow them to play in the street, she would get in front of them and bark, if that didn't work she would push them with her head until they were back on the sidewalk. I sure do miss her, but I have one of her offspring and while she (Rosie) doesn't look like her mother (Rosie is mixed with border collie) she is just as good a friend and companion to us as Josie was. When I would take the Kubota out of the barn she had to be on it, or she would stand in front of it and bark until you told her to "get in".
Josie.

Jose was beautiful and what a wonderful protector!!!! Really cute story about the tractor too!!
I'm glad you have Rosie now. Does she like to ride with you also? Isn't it wonderful how pets have a way of communicating with their "people". Some more than others, of course, but still wonderful.
