And I don't get to go home for another 3 or 4 I'm TIRED of living in a hotel. It has been a good trip so far, but I get these times when I get lonely being gone from home. At least my remaining days will be back at job sites, so I'll be busy, and as soon as the job site visits are done, I fly home. It's worse the days we don't make site visits or its a weekend and I'm just sitting around with nothing to do.
Ho Hum. Whine whine whine. Thats about all for me. I've gotten into milk and/or gluten a few times while I've been eating all my meals out, but not too badly.
No wonder you're looking forward to returning home - that's a long time to be away, in one stretch. At least it's not the middle of winter, or summer, (though it certainly seems like summer here). I'll bet your family will be glad to see you.

That IS a long time. Hope you have lots of books, puzzles, etc., to keep you busy in your off time. Or do you fall into bed exhausted most nights?
Where are you? Are there no sights to see on weekends (like we did in Portland)?
Hey, you deserve kudos for eating out safely (or mostly so anyway) for 20 days. That is a major accomplishment for an MCer.

I can imagine that hotel living gets old very quickly. I hope your life can return to normal soon. You've been gone from home for a long time.

As one who considering taking a driving vacation, I'd like to know how you've manage to eat out for 20 days. What have you eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Ah Katy,
I feel for you. I know I'm sure wouldn't do well in those situations. First time or two I'd probably think it was a bit exciting but after that........... been there, done that. There's no place like home.
However, my sister's whole life is like that. She is only "home" on weekends and sometimes she has to stay at "work" on weekends. She has done this for about 10 or 12 years. I don't think I could stand it. We are all different and that's a good thing, I'm sure.
Hope you can be home soon and be able to stay there for a while.
Glad you had time and opportunity to post.
Love, Shirley

Oh, it's definately summer! I've been in Georgia, southern Ohio, and now the last 2 weeks in North Carolina.
As for eating out, fortunately some of the restaurants now have gf menus. What drives me nuts is the planning...for example, Longhorn Steakhouse has a gf menue, but it doesn't include descriptions of the items like in the regular menu. When with Hubby its okay, but with a coworker I'm not one to bug him to find out what is in such and such. So I pretty much have a favorite dish or two that I know I can eat.
If no GF menu is available, lots of restaurants have allergan listings online so I piece together a meal I can have.
The first week, about the only thing safe to eat at the few restaurants was steak...I was pretty sick of it by the end of the week. But I've had more variety since. Also breakfasts at a couple hotels included bacon, so I've eaten more than my share of that. I also packed a lot of EnviroKids cereal bars for lunch and breakfast if where I am (hotel and job site) don't have acceptable options.
The first week I had a car. But since then I've been with co-worker and dependant on him driving me around. I've been mostly doing reports on the weekends.
I get home this week and turn around Friday for a week of family vacation. Even though that won't be home, at least it will be with hubby and kids. I hear my cats are driving Geoff nuts looking for all the attention I usually give them. Can't wait to have them to cuddle too.
