Hi All,
The swine flu seems to be rapidly spreading, currently, and it's spreading slightly faster in the U. S., than the world average, (which suggests that cold temps may not be particularly significant in helping to spread viruses).
Surely, a huge number of cases are never counted, since many cases are probably never diagnosed, (and obviously, they won't be counted if they're not officially diagnosed), but according to information posted at the World Health Organization, (WHO), website, the total number of cases in the world, (as of yesterday), now stands at 89,921, of which 33,902 of those are from the U. S., (38% of the total cases). During the past week, there has been a 58% increase in the number of cases reported in the U. S., compared with a 50 % increase in the number of cases reported world wide.
The number of reported deaths, increased 34% in the U. S., (43 new deaths during the week), compared with a 45% increase in deaths, world wide.
Here's the current WHO update:

And here's the current CDC updated map, showing how the various states in the U. S. are affected:

Note that since June 11th, we have been in a worldwide pandemic alert level of Phase 6, (which is the highest level of alert).

Based on this, I would suggest that anyone who has MC, and who is suddenly noticing an escalation in the severity of symptoms, should consider that the swine flu might be involved, and this will obviously continue to be a risk for some time to come. Tamiflu is still effective against the H1N1 swine flu, provided that treatment is begun within 48 hours of the first symptoms of the flu.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Barbara,
I believe that I heard or read somewhere, that there are so many cases now, that most doctors are not bothering to try to diagnose them - they just assume that it is the swine flu, but those cases are probably not being reported to the CDC or the WHO, (since they are not officially diagnosed).
