Hi all,
Hate to tell ya this, but I just talked to a rep over at the Carlson company which has a pretty reputable line of supplements including fish oils.
My reason for calling was because I recently purchased some Vitamin E in a bottle of gell caps called "E-Gems" which I had thought would be made from another source other than soy. WRONG.
The young lady I spoke with told me that most of their products INCLUDING fish oils are made with SOY. She said, "We use it as a preservative!"
Sooo, guess anytime you see the words "natural sources" that means SOY for Vitamin E. I feel so dumb for not checking on this before I bought this stuff!!
The other ingredients listed on the Vit E bottle are:Gelatin, glycerin, water. No where on the bottle are any allergens listed on this product that I've been able to locate, so this is why it's best to call on every supplement.
The GOOD NEWS is that the liquid Vit D3 drops that I bought for my mother from this brand specifically state on the box and bottle inside that this product is "sugar-free, SOY-FREE, corn-free, wheat-free, gluten-free, natural color, preservative-free, so it is possible to get something from this company that's ok.
This is just a heads up.
Yours, Luce

Joan,
I found out that one can't just go by what's on the label/container UNLESS they specifically list what allergens aren't in the product. I thought it strange that the liquid D3 was so labeled for allergens, yet the E gel caps didn't have a list of allergens. Perhaps they are going to have a line of products to cater to those with food issues.
Don't know if you have Bluebonnet vitamins in your area. They have the allergens listed right on the bottle on many of their products. I also prefer their glass bottles to plastic. Country Life is another one that I like, particularly their Biochem line which seems to be of an even higher quality. Perhaps the term "bio-available" is what that division is going for. I use Biochem's sublingual B-12, and have had good results on my labs as a result.
Take care.
Yours, Luce
