Gluten-free pizza
A local pizza chain (IMO the best in the county) just announced that it's offering a gluten-free pizza. Assuming the crust is also egg-free, I'm tempted to give it a try.
I can't eat cheese, of course, but they have many other ingredients I could put on the pizza. Have any of you eaten a GF, cheese-free pizza? If so, what toppings would you suggest?

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
We have a chain here also, Pizza Fusion, and it's really good (they are nationwide and expanding). The GF pizza was EXPENSIVE, but a nice treat. If you can tolerate soy they use a soy cheese that is casein free, called Follow Your Heart (I buy it to make pizza for my son - available at Whole Foods but my local health food store will also special order it).
As for cheese free, my husband likes his with pepperoni and veggies (peppers, onions etc). I am not eating many grains now but I used to like mine with no sauce, more like a flatbread I suppose. I used olive oil, chicken, garlic, rosemary and tomato and then topped it with fresh basil. Any veggie you could tolerate would be good - fresh herbs add alot of flavor.

We have a local pizza shop that makes a gf pizza and I like it without cheese...it's better than no pizza! I usually get just sauce and sausage because I like their sausage. But this shop also does a pesto sauce, and a few others...before I figured out the dairy problem I'd get the garlic butter from time to time. So go for it. Truth be, to me pizza is the crust, and the toppings. Cheese is just a topping that you can do without.
Enjoy,

Hi Gloria,
I had GF DF pizza twice recently.
The first time I had a topping with lots of veggies - capsicum, onions, pineapple, olives and a bit of bacon and pepperoni. It was pretty tasty, but a bit dry and the toppings wanted to fall off.
The second time I ordered their GF meatlovers without cheese, and it was excellent. Along with the pepperoni and bacon, they include a bolognese sauce which stopped it being dry and made it hang together better. No leftovers.
I hadn't eaten Pizza for a few years, so these went down really well. And yeah, the nitrates and salt aren't good, but without a kitchen at the moment I am trying all the eating out options I can!

Lyn,
It sounds like I should keep the sauce and meat; just remove the cheese. I also like the pineapple and olives suggestion. I think I could get half with cheese for DH and the other half w/o for me. I still need to call to see if they use eggs in their crust.
Thanks for the suggestions!

Oh, well. I just checked the pizza restaurant to see if there were any eggs in the GF pizza. He referred me to the website where they purchase the pre-made crusts (to avoid contamination). Here is the list of ingredients:
Rice flour, filtered water, tapioca starch, potato starch, organic extra virgin olive oil, vegetable shortening (canola oil, hydrogenated cottonseed oil), sugar, contains less than 2% of the following: yeast, salt, eggs, gelatin, natural flavor, organic defatted soy flour, egg whites, leavening (sodium aluminum phosphate, baking soda), soy lecithin, xanthan gum, gum arabic, organic guar gum.
It obviously violates the 5-ingredient limitation, but every GF bakery product will. What bothers me are the eggs, soy flour, egg whites, and soy lecithin. I guess if I want pizza, I'll have to make it myself. I told the manager that I was happy to see him offering a GF pizza and he seemed pleased that I expressed appreciation.
They sell other products like GF tortillas. Here is the website, if you're interested: http://www.frenchmeadow.com/products/

Hmmmm!!
Speaking of pizza, I just made 2 calzones last night for Jack & I out of Chebe bread mix.
I use the all purpose mix and just add italian seasonings, garlic powder & a little salt in the mix.
On mine I had sauted sweet onion, red pepper & mushrooms and put the Old Wisconsin little pepperoni sticks ,(they are GF/DF/SF) in my food processor, and spread that over Contadina pizza sauce (also GF/DF/SF). No cheese..
It was yummy....
Of course, Jack wanted just his pepperoni, mushroom & cheese...
