Has anyone tried this? It looks interesting, but a bit difficult to follow. I'd love to hear stories about people who have tried it and their good/back luck with it.

I'm here for my son - diagnosed with ulcerative colitis July 31, 2009.

The primary problem with the SCD is that it allows dairy products, and many of us are casein intolerant. Other than that, it's an effective diet, for many people. A few members here have tried it, but the diary items were usually an issue.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
My son is dairy free, so we wouldn't be doing any of the dairy on it. I tried doing a search and didn't find much on here. I guess I have my answer though - most people on here haven't tried it. It looks pretty tough to follow, and I've become almost an expert at cooking/baking gluten and dairy free. Not sure if I'm up for learning a whole new style of cooking, but then again, I'm desperate to help my son get better.

You're quite correct - most members here haven't tried it. There have been a few to give it a good try, though. Mostly, their stories about trying the SCD are hidden away in some other topic, unfortunately. To the best of my memory, though, I'm not aware of anyone who was able to resolve their MC symptoms by following the SCD, and trust me, I/we are always open to any possible way to control the symptoms of this miserable disease.

ronipow's teenage daughter has MC, (though she is probably no longer a teenager, at this point), and they tried the SCD, (according to this thread):

In followup posts, though, it wasn't able to resolve her daughter's symptoms.
The SCD is certainly worth a try, for your son, because I believe that it has a much better track record with UC. MC is not a very "well-behaved" disease, (in mathematical terms). It's a much less "specific" disease than UC, and it has many more causes, and it presents in many more ways, therefore, treatment programs can be difficult to work out. Also, MC is not as well understood, as UC, due to a much smaller knowledgebase, in the medical community.
Please keep us updated on your son's progress. We all learn from each other, and perhaps many others can learn from your, (and your son's), experience with the SCD.

I really, really wanted it to work. It had helped so many people with worse conditions than I have (Crohn's disease, and Ulcerative Colitis). After 6 strict weeks, I just felt zero improvement. Her book says if you don't see improvement after 30 days, "then this diet isn't for you". I was at the end of my rope, and considering meds.
