Hello, not spam I promise! I stumbled across your folks website and wanted to let you folks know of our website that is dedicated to the elimination of trace amounts of gluten for those that are extremely sensitive. Many of us have improved our health by finding the many sources of hidden gluten via testing and we post about this.
Tex, I wanted to just email you and let you know of our site. 5 posts are required so, this is the only way I knew of getting in touch with you. Hope you don't mind me posting this information. I am just hoping to spread the word of how gluten is in places you would not imagine. Maybe it will help some on your site. All the best, Mike
glutenzap.com is our site!

Hi Mike,
Actually, there are at least a couple of links in the footer of every page on this site, which provide an e-mail link, that you could have used to contact me. There is also an e-mail link or so in the registration form, which is hard to miss, during the registration process. While I appreciate your concern, trust me, we're well aware of all the hiding places for gluten, and various other food intolerances. We've been discussing them for quite a few years now.
I'm curious - why would you assume that in 6 or 7 months of operation, you would have somehow miraculously gained more knowledge about finding hidden gluten, than we have discovered in several years of discussions? More than that, though, why would you feel that we would be gullible enough to fall for that pitch? As you are surely well aware, there are a lot of well-established sites on the internet, that are quite qualified to offer guidelines for finding hidden sources of gluten.
I checked out your site, and in all honesty, it appears that you have set up a relatively new site, hoping to pay for it with ads, and you are simply trolling for traffic to boost your ad ratings. After carefully reviewing several of your forums, in all honesty, I wasn't able to locate anything that we haven't already discussed, and/or weren't already well aware of.
Let me see if I have this straight - you don't have microscopic colitis, and you're promoting a new product, (your web site). If your post wasn't spam, then what was it? In case you haven't noticed, our site is ad free, and we kinda like it that way. Also, I'm sure you've noticed that I haven't been spamming your site, (nor do I intend to).
The foregoing notwithstanding, I do wish you the best of luck in your endeavor, but please don't spam our site.
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Give me one more chance Tex! Please.....
I (am like You) gluten intolerant and severely avenin sensitive (to the point of bleeding internally if I eat oat protein) and kept getting into gluten and could not figure out why. God, Google and Enterolab is who I thank for getting me on the road to recovery. Many products labeled gluten free are just loaded with gluten and Oats (Bobs Red Mill process gluten free Oats on the same equipment as their gluten free products) I found this out the hard way for sure. About a year and a half ago I heard of a home test that allows a person to test for gluten down to 10 parts per million. It is a bit expensive (ten dollars per test) but I did not care. I have tested over 600 products now and found gluten in places not imaginable. Places like the skin on orange peels and strawberries. even found gluten in dishwasher rinsing agent (many brands including the top seller) Seems some put a special coating on the produce to help extend the shelf life of the product. Also a lot of wines test positive for gluten. The oak barrels have a wheat past applied to prevent them from leaking. This type of information I felt needed to be told. So, I created our website. There is a private area set up for talking about the positive test results if you are a member. I did this because I am not out to get any of these companies by posting this information publicly. All of the advertising you see on the site is free. I get nothing in return. These folks products have been tested is the only reason I put them up. Sorry if I came across as you think I did. Many of us started out posting on celiac.com and posted our results in an effort to let others know. We more or less got ran off from that site. They do advertise a lot of gluten free foods! I won't bug you all anymore. I have been blessed financially beyond measure. I can tell you it is only out of concern for the fellow gluten intolerant that I am posting. I do understand if you feel the need to delete me. Hoping you and yours all the best of health and happiness. Mike
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the additional insight. I think we all agree that gluten is virtually everywhere, and the 20 ppm standard is inadequate for protecting some of us.
I certainly didn't mean to imply that I thought that your site is completely without merit. I'm sure that many people will find help there, and as your database grows, so will the benefits. Obviously, I didn't delete your post, nor your membership, nor do I intend to, because I do believe in the power of the internet, and I feel that everyone should have as much information available to them as possible, because if we don't take seriously, the responsibility for our own health, no one will.
Also, you will note that I didn't remove the name of your site, and I'm sure that many people who read this, will go there to see what it's all about. I wasn't just "whistlin' Dixie" when I said that "I do wish you the best of luck in your endeavor". I meant that, and I still do, of course.

Thanks Tex for hearing me out one more time. You have a very impressive and informative website here. I'd like to take a look around your site if I may and learn all I can about this.
P.S. You are one of the few that I know of with an avenin sensitivity. There seems to be very little information out there with regard to this issue as I am sure you know. As you are more than aware, there are just no tests out there to detect this protein. I do also react to gluten and I assume if a product has gluten in it, it also can be very suspect for avenin also, especially if it is a gluten free flour of some kind. You have a lot of experience and I'm not sure what I can offer, however if I can ever be of help in any way to you, please don't hesitate to let me know. All the best, Mike
