Gluten free cake/cookie mixes

Post by jme22 »

Hello all,

I don't know if this has previously been mentioned but just in case it hasn't...(and NO this isn't a plug for Betty Crocker products!)

Recently at the local grocery I noticed that Betty Crocker is now making mixes that are gluten free. They have 4 mixes which include a brownie mix, chocolate chip cookie mix, yellow cake mix and devils food cake mix. I bought the yellow cake mix and made blueberry muffins from the mix following the recipe from the Betty Crocker website. They have several recipes available on the BC website using the gluten free mixes. I think the product is relatively new so I'm sure that more recipes will follow once the mixes have been out for awhile.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how good the muffins were made from the mix. You would never have known the muffins were gluten free. I can't wait to try the cookie mix as I really miss those good 'ol Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies! The mixes are a bit pricey, ($4.50) but for a treat every so often or for a special occasion I'll probably indulge.

Has anyone else tried these mixes? If so, which one(s) and what did you think?

Hi Julie,

The brownie mix is really good too. I only paid $3.99 for the brownie mix and that is waaaaaaaay cheaper than most GF mixes on the market. Some are as much as $6.00.

I noticed that a local store advertised them in their weekly ad.
