another soy question
For those of you that also avoid soy, do you find other legumes to be a problem? I've been avoiding peanut butter because it made my stomach rumble and feel gassy but noticed that it contains soybean oil so that was most likely it but was wondering if anyone else with a soy intolerance has to avoid beans ect too?

Kathy,
I had the same experience you're having with peanut butter. Brown beans always gave me problems, but I figured they gave everyone problems. I didn't think much of it, but finally noticed that I was also having problems after eating green beans. I finally decided that I was not only intolerant to soy, but to all legumes and I haven't eaten them since. I find that sunflower butter is a good alternative to peanut butter. Some here have had problems with it, however. I get it for $3.99 at Trader Joe's.
The only legumes that I miss at all are green beans - they were so easy to prepare!

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.

Gloria, I heard that sunflower butter is very similar to peanut butter in taste and texture. I will look for it today and see how it goes. One of my breakfasts over the past year has been peanut butter and van's gluten free waffles. Both contain soy so I am seeing the light on what I've been accidentally doing wrong! Thanks everyone for the replies. I guess I need to do the food diary again to see how green beans and stuff react with me.
