Wowsers! Just got EnteroLab results back for my family

Post by no-more-muffins »

My results (which I posted on another thread) were only 6 for anti-gliadin.
My 21 month old had an 18.

Today I got the results for the rest of my family. I basically convinced my dh to test and he did it just to appease me. He really didn't think he had it, but I did.

His score for gluten: 44. Casein 8.
My 9 year old dd: 159
My 7 year old dd: 99
My 4 year old ds: 26

We didn't get the other kids tested for casein.

I am the symptomatic one. Why in the heck were my scores negative? If I wanted to waste another 100 bucks I'd retest. I already know I do better without gluten so I am not going to spend the money. But really. What are the chances???

(And let me get this straight, the number doesn't necessarily reflect how sick a person is right? )

We are already GF at home, and my kids are learning about gluten, so we have been getting used to it. The hard thing though is going to be all the people who 1. think gluten sensitivity is rare and 2. think that the enterolab isn't really a reputable lab and we are just making our kids live GF because of some crazy whim or something.

Wow. Wow. Wow. I hate gluten.

MUFFIN-----quite a story there---

When I was in AZ.---went to the health store to mosey around and there I saw GLUTEN free muffins---I found them to be pretty good--just wanted to taste a gluten free item~~~~

I have no allergies to worry about (lucky for me--lactose and a certain filler(cant think of the name) were my enemies---but now I can tolerare everything---
The worse problem that I have is loss of smell and taste!!! thats a pure killer----am seeing a specialist about this but I have doubts that she will discover the *WHY* and WHEREFORE*

Cannot imagine what it must be like to REDO your methods of cooking---

Take care and keep a good frame of mind~~~ U surely sound like U are doing that!!!!

NMM,

 You and your husband must surely have the genes.

Theoretically, at least, that's correct.

It's definitely frustrating, dealing with people who aren't qualified to judge, but who choose to judge, anyway. You just have to do what you feel is best for your family, and hope that the doubters will eventually learn enough to see the light. The Flat Earth Society still exists.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

When we were at camp Dr. Fine said really high values, like over 300, were probaby indicative of true celiac. But . . . .the value doesn't indicate a person's response, IOW, how sick gluten makes them.
