I saw this article on the internet today........ we can all identify and sympathize. All of this concern about security just goes overboard.

Officials say there is no threat aboard a United Airlines aircraft that was cleared of passengers in Los Angeles after a man ran to the restroom just before takeoff.

Los Angeles International Airport police say the passenger defied a flight attendant's order to remain seated because he urgently needed to use the restroom. The man was taken off United Flight 22 on Monday morning and passengers were removed while authorities searched the plane.

All the more reason to send a letter about your needs, from your doctor, to the airline, ahead of time, and it's probably a good idea to carry a copy with you, at all times, also.

The world is going nuts, and this country is taking the lead.

Yup, give some people a uniform and a sense of self-importance.....

A real threat would not have 'run'. It reminds me of the awful story of a bi-polar passenger mistaken as a terrorist, despite his wife's desperate attempts at explanation.

Of course, there is a fine line between overdone controls and necessary security measures.

Unfortunately this is the world we live in, but I must say I think they did the right thing. If they didn't and an incident occurred, the public would be outraged that nothing was done.

9/11 changed everything. My husband is a pilot and was flying that morning, so I vividly remember what people on airplanes are capable of doing. While those images may have faded for many, the airlines can't ever go back to the good old days. My husband has had to stop flights and believe me, he is as annoyed as anyone else when he has to do so, but what choice do they have? I honestly don't even think a doctor's note would help in this situation. It's awful that we have become so untrusting and I have compassion for the poor man who was about to have an accident, but safety has to come first.

Yep! It is unfortunate times we are now residing in and Tex, you are right the US is taking the lead.

Joan - I had to use my restroom card on vacation when they insisted the bathroom was closed for cleaning. I took out my card and they let me in. I don't leave home without it.
