Hi everyone,
I pop in here every once in a while and always feel like I'm back home. (My bf's with me and says that I poop in here every once in a while! Love his sense of humor - I think he'd fit in well here :))
So, almost two weeks ago I came down with some kind of stomach bug - fever, nausea, cramps, some D. The fever went away after a couple of days, but I kept having a lot of abdominal cramps. And they're still going. I can only eat white foods - Deland's millet bread, potatoes, eggs, fish, baked apples, some very basic chicken soup. I'm wondering if other people with MC have had the experience of taking much longer to recover from the stomach bug than "normal" people. I just feel concerned that I'm not getting the right nutrients. It almost feels like I'm in a flare again, except no D - just the cramping.
Thanks for any thoughts you might have!
Elizabeth

hi Elizabeth--well U POOP in here anytime
I cant really give U much help cus I didnt suffer with issues as so many of all that are here~~BUT I imagine any type of viral upset would cause all those problems--specially dehydration---and a crampy *grumpy* tummy~~~
So I imagine that being your system has been invaded with MC---the systems U describe are typical--
Trust U are keeping hydrated and if not feeling any better get in touch with your GI--
Feel better--

Beth,
I have a friend who came down with a similar bug. He doesn't have colitis and is complaining about how long it is taking to feel better. Hopefully it isn't a flare. If you don't feel better soon it would be a good idea to get in touch with your Dr.
Wishing you speedy recovery,
Jan

Hi Elizabeth,
Sorry to hear that you've caught some kind of bug that doesn't want to leave. For the most part, I believe that most of us find that such viruses don't tend to last significantly longer than they do for someone without MC, unless we're taking Entocort, of course, or some other immune-suppressing medication. Generally, the nature of the virus itself, tends to determine it's tenure. I agree with Jan - my brother had something similar, a few weeks ago, that lasted a lot longer than it should have.
I hope it runs it's course pretty soon.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
