things happen in 3's~~sad~~~

Post by barbaranoela »

I always hated that quote --if its good things *terrific*--but at times it appears to be *sad* things--for L and me it has been the loss of 3 friends over the last week--
Friends that have been with us for the past 40 some-odd years--

Last week Timmy Murphy passed away--total body just melting away~~
Today--L puts the paper down in front of me --with the obits facing up--so I knew it wasnt going to be something that was going to make me smile--
My eyes started to fill up~~~

John Loeffler neighbor up the street passed away~~~we knew he had cancer but things seemed to be picking up for him---

And the saddest was to see Barbara Smith--who was my dearest friend since we moved here--along with her hubby Joe---
Barbara and I could laugh just looking at each other---and as time passed I got to calling her BS--which made her laugh even more---
Barbara married Joe -an army gunner during WW2---and when they signed into a hotel as Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith---the person at the desk-laughed and said *tell me another one--Mr. and Mrs. SMITH!!

Joe's nickname was !BUBBA! cus he was bubbering up the scale--
Once we went to a tent covered outdoor wedding and it started to rain a bit--Joe whips out his umbrella--opens it up and printed on the umbrella is the saying *shi* it is raining*
Well I still have that picture on my refrig~~~and I always seem to laugh when I think of Joe opening that umbrella--he used to do things that NO-ONE Xpected!! This was our BUBBA!!
Joe died 10 years back--Barbara stayed here for many years--then decided to move back to her homestate of CT. - BS started to have some medical issues so her daughter,Peggy, decided to move BS to Texas so that--Peg and her hubby could take care of her--
We spoke often--but Peg never told me that BS was getting worse---
Today I found out that my dear BS died~~~
Peg is bringing BS *HOME*--there will be a funeral mass on the 13th--then burial following--
So here I sit--time flies faster than we Xpect it to--so be happy -love one another to the fullest--share your smiles--and treasure every moment of every day--even if that day be a type of SEE/SAW---

with luve--Barbara

Dear Barbara,

Thank you so much for sharing your friends with us. May the telling of their lives help ease your sadness of the loss.

I'm so sorry to read about the passing of your dear friends. You have had a sorrowful week.

Last week one of my former students died at age 37. She found out that she had breast cancer shortly after she discovered she was pregnant. They couldn't treat the cancer agressively because she was pregnant, and the doctors let her decide if she would keep the baby. She and her husband, who is a teacher at my former school (her mom is the principal) decided to keep the baby. She is a healthy little girl, two years old now. But Mom didn't make it, in spite of a courageous battle, and now her husband is raising three children by himself. She was such a pleasant, cheerful woman, the same age as my oldest daughter. I feel for her three children, all under the age of 8.

Dear Barbara,

So sorry to hear of your friends passing. I have come to realize that the older I am getting the more evident it is that I am losing friends. Also, living in our senior community you see a good bit of it.

My prayers are with you and them. I did love the BS nickname - you are the funniest and greatest.

Love, Maggie

Hi Senior,

So sorry to hear about your friends. It seems that the older we get the less of our old friends that we have. When Robert lost his oldest friend two years ago to cancer he was devastated. They had been friends since they were babies, about 68 years.

We are to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary next March & when I counted up all of the old friends that we would have liked to be there with us there were not many left. It seems that there are mostly widows.

My thoughts are with both you & Gloria.

Love

Liz
