Hi I just wanted to let you all know I am new here as of oct 20th and not ONE person has welcomed me or offered forum support, I think that is very sad.
I am very ill and have no medicaid or insurance coverage so I had hoped by joining this group I would have had forum support as that cost nothing but time.
Are any of you as unwell right now with no coverage?? if so please write to me so I know I am not alone.
I passed a complete and large section of lining from my bowel last week, that gives an indication of the severity of my illness right now, has anyone tried cabbage juice <I> and if so were they able to buy it already made at a store, for anyone who is listening I say thank you.

Hi Kiwi,
I'm sorry that you feel slighted, but as you you can see from the link that Joan posted, (repeated here for your convenience), http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewt ... ght=#67628 , many of us welcomed you. We all wondered why you posted, and then never responded to our messages. We don't send out a welcome wagon - we welcome new members in the thread that they initially post.
Be that as it may, yes, many of us have had to deal with this disease without any insurance, including myself.
I assume that you're referring to mucus, since that is very common with MC. When the gut is inflamed, it produces copious amounts of mucus, in order to try to protect the surface of the lining of the intestine from irritants in the fecal stream. If you had actually passed a chunk of the lining of your colon, (the mucosa), you would have bled to death in a matter of minutes. I don't see how cabbage juice is going to help you.
At this point, since you already have a diagnosis, you can treat yourself, by altering your diet, and that doesn't require any insurance. Many of us here are in remission by diet alone, though it doesn't necessarily work for everyone, unless all intolerances are removed from the diet. If you would like to stop the reactions, so that your intestines can heal, start by removing all gluten and dairy products from your diet, and if you don't see any significant improvement after a month or so, remove all food products that contain soy.
For your information, you qualify for disability payments. The changes in the Americans With Disabilities Act, that were added to the Act on January 1 of this year, make it much easier to win a disability claim, if you have a diagnosis of microscopic colitis. You no longer have to prove that you are disabled, the medical diagnosis is sufficient proof. If you want to file, and you need additional information on this, please let us know, and we'll try to answer your questions.
So for the second time, (the first was on October 20th), welcome to the group.
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

All I know is it was shaped like a used condom if it was a mucus plug it was large, do you have an autoimmune illness as well as the colitis? I do, just curious to see if there is a connection to people suffering from this disease.
I find your website very difficult to navigate so perhaps that is why I had no idea people had said hi, I read that some people with colitis after drinking cabbage juice felt better so was just throwing it out there.
I am exhausted spent most of my day ill so will pop back another time ty for thr welcome Judy.

Hi Judy,
I'm sorry you had a bad day. I hope tomorrow will be much better.
Yes, many of us have other autoimmune diseases. Here is a poll that we did several years ago.
http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3715
Here are approximately 30 more polls about various issues related to MC, in case you're interested in such connections.

In my own case, about 6 to 10 years ago, I had several other autoimmune disorders - I had rheumatoid arthritis, and had to use a cane for walking at times, because of severe pain in my knees; several fingers were always highly inflamed, and grew crooked and twisted; chronic fatigue syndrome was a regular problem; temporomandibular joint disorder, (TMJD or TMD), was so bad that sometimes I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to eat a sandwitch - I could barely get a teaspoon full of soup between my teeth; and I have drusen, (an autoimmune eye disease). I may have forgotten something, because all those problems are now gone, except for the drusen, and it does not seem to be progressing, any more. Of course, I still have the crooked fingers, from the RA, because such damage is permanent, (as is the drusen), however, a resent blood test shows negative results for both Rheumatoid Factor, (RF), and Anti-Nuclear Antibodies, (ANA), so obviously I no longer have RA, or any of the other autoimmune issues. They all disappeared after my gut healed, after I cut gluten out of my diet, 7 years ago. I never took any drugs to treat any of them, except for taking Tylenol, to treat the migraines that I had while I was still having MC reactions. I no longer have any migraines, either. I have been in remission for over 5 years, now, by diet changes only.
I know how exhausting MC can be, and I hope that you feel much better tomorrow.

Hello Kiwi, your question about the mucus or lining of your bowel in your stool. I recognize it. It happened to me twice in the last six months. Once in July, once in august. At that time I had no idea what was wrong with me, so it really worried me. It had the size of a hand fist and looked like a clew of wool. Or a better description a clew of DNA after isolation it out of blood and adding the alcohol (that is really magic, one moment is a liquid fluid, the other moment the dna structure appears, years ago I worked in a lab, and this was part of my job).
I am quite sure it is part of my MC. But I am also quite sure not everybody is the same in this part. There are lots of other symptoms I read here I don't recognize, for example joint pain.
