Polly's Surgery Is Today

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Presumably, she's now recovering from her knee surgery.

Maybe if she feels well enough later, she'll tell us how it went.

Until then - :xfingers:

Thanks for thinking of me!

Surgery went well - in at 6 am and out by 11 AM. Was told to keep knee elevated higher than the heart for 3 days and to ice it. Do you know how hard it is to elevate like that? You really have to be lying down to do it. On crutches for meals and bathroom. Never needed to take any pain med. - altho I was given an Rx for 40 Vicodin pills. They did give me morphine before I left the hospital, so I'm sure that helped. The knee is quite stiff and tender when I try to flex it. Doc said I wouldn't be able to flex more than 90 degrees by my followup appt. Wed. I'll start P.T after that, which should really help.

Today was the first day I ventured downstairs where the computer is located, so it made me smile to see your posts. Will keep you posted. I am now officially exhausted from my trip downstairs and am heading up for a little nap and ice.

Thanks again.

Love,

Polly

Polly,

Many thanks for the update. We were beginning to be a little concerned, but I figured that navigation would be pretty tough for a few days. It's definitely great to hear that everything went so well.

Take care of yourself, doctor.

Love,
Tex

I'm glad the surgery went well and that you didn't need pain medication.

I don't recall having to elevate my leg above my heart - I just put it on a hassock. It will be tender for quite a while; doing the PT will be painful, but I'm sure you'll be comfortable doing it. Enjoy the rare rest time!
