So what's for Thanksgiving dinner?

Post by Matthew »

Hey all-

Always interesting to discover other members good ideas about what they eat and how to get through the holidays . Even if they don't fit my diet exactly its fun to adapt them and discover new ideas.

I will be going to my sister Marcia and her partner Susan's house for dinner. A lot of fun since cousins and second cousins come with all kinds of good things to eat. Some guests are GF others DF others SF. So it is a rather eclectic group that understands.

One turkey will be stuffed traditionally with bread stuffing. The other organic turkey will be cooked without stuffing but with an herb mixture placed under the skin.

Lots of vegetable dishes. Some I can eat others not . But for certain. Baked winter squash. Several bowls of mashed potatoes. One with butter and milk. Another with my homemade chicken vegetable broth and roasted garlic. Just must make certain which is which. Steamed broccoli with roasted garlic. And of course cranberry sauce.

I can’t imagine how many pies will show up but I am bringing a crustless apple tart with a crispy walnut cinnamon date topping with an apricot glaze.

I really do best if if i don’t eat to much at one time so will do my best not to overeat. I have been so well for so long that i don’t need to upset the apple cart with so many Christmas orders ahead of me.

Please don't forsake a holiday dinner because of MC. Eat what you can and take the greatest joy in the Holiday season and visiting with special friends .

To your continued recover.

Love

Matthew,

I LOVE Thanksgiving and am so glad that I am feeling well enough to enjoy a wide variety of foods. Our entire meal will be GF, SF, DF

Herb roasted turkey
Sausage, fennel and apple cornbread dressing (not in the bird - too much fat absorbed that way)
Brussels sprouts with pecans
Mashed potatoes
Carrots
Salad with roasted pumpkin and bacon with a maple vinaigrette
Poached pears with cranberries and cinnamon
Corn spoonbread
Pumpkin ice cream pie with gingersnap crust
Pumpkin custards with pecan praline topping

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy holiday.

Our very large adopted family will be at Embassy Suites for Thanksgiving for the second time. I'll eat what I can from the buffet which isn't much.

Last year the private room was free but this year they are charging $200!

The aunt who used to have Thanksgiving at her home just died of lung cancer. It was diagnosed at stage four, which I read online it often is. Gigi was the sweetest, dearest Southern lady. So our Thanksgiving won't be that happy.

We just bought a special turkey to fry. It will be our first one to prepare that way.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to ALL Y'ALL!

mmm' can't wait

I'm the meat guy in the family so therefore I'm in charge of that department. We'll have between 35-40 guests at my Mom's home in Lodi CA.

we're having smoked pheasant and turkey of course. But I'm looking forward to the bounty of fresh seafood, my little brother was out yesterday and caught halibut, lingcod, and several species of rockfish, he set crab pots and he'll be out this morning and hopefully he'll bring in some fresh dungeness and rock crab. Mum will make her oyster dressing, prepare some mussles, and if we're really lucky she'll make the "King of Salads" a Crab Louis. There will be so much food the tables will be ready to burst. Thanksgiving is our families biggest holiday, both my parents being immigrants and later on citizens chose Thanksgiving as a way for our family to celebrate being Americans, so for us it's a very big deal. We'll have many traditional dishes like spiced cranberry sauce, sweet potato pie, 3 bean salad, macaroni salad, carrot salad, and my wife fixed me a impossible pumkin pie (gf of course) yep I'll be wearing my loose pants tomorrow for sure.
