Note that it's the toxicity of a component of soy that is being exploited to fight cancer. If it's toxic enough to kill cancer cells, what does it do to normal cells? A visual image comes to mind of taking chemotherapy on a daily basis, whether it's needed or not, simply by eating soy. LOL.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
And what you also have to keep in mind, that there is always a difference in how a reaction or behavior in a compound in a petri dish and in the body of a human being. The body is a very complex biochemical factory. Of course finding like this can mean, they found another potential medicine to cure (bowel) cancer. But it's something else than "eating or drinking a lot of soy prevents bowel cancer"
