This seems like a really good thesis on Paleo, followed by how genes and various modern foods can induce autoimmune diseases. The focus is on the causes and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis, but light bulbs started going off as I read it. Might do the same for others.....
This is an excellent explanation of how leaky gut happens. The Paleo people will love it - it's presented by Dr. Cordain. Allow almost an hour, though. I haven't finished it yet, but will look at the last 10 minutes tomorrow. Thank you for posting this link, Ant.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I viewed that presentation again, this morning, (while I was wide awake, LOL), and IMO, in general, it's well organized, and chock full of very enlightening information. Dr. Cordain kills a fair amount of time, early in the presentation, on a lot of basics, (which is understandable, for a talk directed to the public), and as he realizes that the clock is running out, he covers too much technical information, in too little time, IMO, but the content is there, and it's well organized.
You can go back, (either while it is running, or later), and review any/all of the slides, and study the information on them in detail, in case you miss something due to the volume of data presented, the first time around. All in all, I have to say that not only is this an excellent discussion on the phenomenon of the leaky gut syndrome, as Gloria mentioned, but it is also a clear description of the nature of autoimmune reactions in general.
True, it's specifically directed at MS, but as Ant pointed out, it doesn't take much imagination to extend the logic to MC, and/or virtually all other autoimmune issues. IOW, IMO, anyone and everyone with an autoimmune disease, who is interested in the hows and whys of their disease, should view this presentation. Even if you are an expert, you will probably learn something important from the material presented.
This link should be added to either the "Current Research" forum, or the "Links to Good Information Sites" forum, (or both), so that it can always be easily found, by anyone who may not have seen it, or anyone who wants to review it again, at some point in the future.
