Been sick and depressed
Hi guys
Thought I'd better check in since I haven't posted for a while. Been struck down with the flu twice in the past month which led to me being off work for a week. I also took 2weeks annual leave so kind of gives me 3 weeks to get well. Have been (swallying) swallowing loads of supplements...vit d c etc and echinchea herbs to kick this dam flu...I'm sure it was not the evl swine, well hopefully not anyway hadn't seen a doc I got some antibiotics over the phone for my ear infection, that came back too. But m kind of over he flu a bit although symptoms are still there...
Problem is though I can't shake this low mood. I have been feeling like this for months and just putting on a brave face...I am. Beginning to think I'm getting depression...I can recognise this clearly as I am a mental health worker but I don't want any anti depressents...unless I get really bad...
Some mornings I just don't want to get out of bed...been feeling this way for a couple of months. Hardly been out of the house apart for necessities. JUst seem to have lost interest.
Anyway I have chanelled my thoughts into decorating my kitchen by myself which is tiling wallpapering etc...it's looking good I have to say so that's cheered me up...
On a positive note.....nice to hear carol is home and there are some new members to the family....I've missed you all and hope to catch up on the posts....I everyone is well and looking forward to crimbo...

Angy ;)
Aw, Angy,
I'm so sorry to hear that you've been sick so much, and especially about the depression - that's the pits. I wish I knew a way to get rid of it, but decorating your kitchen should help.
Take care of yourself.
We miss you around here, girl.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
We've missed you Angy. Sorry that you've been so ill and depressed.
Have you ever thought about a light box for treating depression? I don't want to tke antidepressants either. Sorry the Vitamin D hasn't helped you. I think it helped me not catch the bad cold DH had.
Take care of yourself and come back soon.

THanks for your support guys...that never fails
I'm wondering about the depression issue though. I'm wondering if this could possibly be linked to menopause mood swings? cos ye u guessed it...I'm getting them...irritability, low mood , sadness and anger...I hope this is gonna pass..my dear mum experienced the moods too. God I get a lot the same as my mum. Except the mc that is,...she didn't have that, but my dad had gastro problems. Anyway I'm rambling here lol!! I'm going out today to collect my car from the garage and I'm going to pick up a bottle of Jack Daniels. I ain't drunk alcohol for ages so now I'm gonna treat myself. Think I will get blootered (drunk) lol!!!!anyway wanna join me hehe!!!
Joan I have day light bulbs all over my house...but my bedroom one has bust so I should replace it...funny I seem to feel worse in the bedroom,,thanks for bringing that to my attention xx

Angy, the light boxes are for SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Check them out, please.
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/season ... er/DS00195
From the Mayo site:Light therapy
In light therapy, also called phototherapy, you sit a few feet from a specialized light therapy box so that you're exposed to bright light. Light therapy mimics outdoor light and appears to cause a change in brain chemicals linked to mood. This treatment is easy to use and seems to have few side effects.
Although light therapy is widely used and appears to be helpful, it isn't clear how light therapy works and how effective it is in treating seasonal affective disorder. Before you purchase a light therapy box or consider light therapy, talk to your doctor or mental health provider to make sure it's a good idea and to make sure you're getting a high-quality light therapy box.
