My pressure was 103/130!!!!!
ALL my fasting blood work is A-ONE!!!

I think someone asked me how comes she sees me every 4 months and the reason is---that the meds I am on,for HYPER,are very potent and liver/kidneys can be affected --but I am doing terrific---and this is interesting about
BONE DENSITY MEDS.---all those pills upset me--so she told me there is a YEARLY SHOT called RECLAST---thats given by !!!!! INFUSION!!! and thats for me~~~~I believe that its done in the hospital--

Just wonder if anyone heard of this???

Barbara,

I have a friend whose sister has this infusion done every year. I don't think she goes to the hospital to do it. I think it's done in the Dr. office.

Barbara,

Reclast is also a bisphosphonate, like Fosamax and Actonel. The main difference is in the way it is administered - it is injected into a vein, once a year. Like all bisphosphonates, in a few patients, it can cause a serious problem known as osteonecrosis of the jaw, which involves bone loss in the jaw. There is also a slight risk of atrial fibrillation, and since it's a relatively new product, the extent of that risk won't become clear until it has been used by a lot of patients, for an extended length of time. Here's some information on it, from Johns Hopkins:

Barbara,

Since all drugs have side effects, we just have to stay informed about them, and hope that we're not one of the unlucky ones. You've got the right idea - it's always a good idea to talk it over with your doctors, 'cause they're the ones being paid to know the details about any risks involved with various drugs, and they have all your records available to review.

Barbara,

My friend's sister has been taking it for at least 3 years that I know of. She has health issues, but none that are from the infusion. I'll send her an e-mail and see if I can get any more detailed info, if you want.

 If that's the case, you sure can't afford to have a bad reaction to it.
