Hi Wayne,

Were you in the Roanoke area?
We saw some beautiful film coming out of that area recently.
Sooo...where were you located?

Yours, Luce

this year even here in the Netherlands, since Thursday, snow, at the moment a guess somewhere between 20 and 35 cm. I hope it will last until Christmas. it looks great. We are not used to a lot of snow here, the whole country is a bit confused. Public transport is not working as it should, trains follow a limited schedule, one the busses ride, the next one again they don't (after another night of snow). Traffic jams on the high ways. Today I went to hospital for a bone density measurement or what it is called (to check if I have osteoporoses or not). I walked there. Before I can use my car I have to dig it out. I enjoyed the walk. Great such a white world.

Aaah snow.

That looks great. I wondered if any of you got lots of snow - it was on the news here.

I hope you all get out and enjoy it! Throw a snowball for me.

In my part of the world we are expecting 35 degrees C today (95F), and there is bright sunshine.

My parents and brother arrive on thursday for two nights.

Christmas lunch will feature a ham made just for us by a friend, prawns, lobster (mum's treat), cold smoked chicken, heaps of salads, and for dessert a tart case filled with fruit in apple-juice jelly (jello?), plum pudding, rum balls and berry fruit salad. All GF, DF of course. The oven won't go on unless I decide to freshly roast some macadamia's to snack on.

Christmas eve we will throw some prawns and steaks on the barbie to have with salad, and dessert will be pavlova with cherries (cream for those who want it).

The beer fridge is stocked with chilled beer, cider, wine and soda water.

Gotta love summer.

I live just inside the beltway near the I-95/I-495/I-395 interchange. We got about two feet of snow. It was nice fluffy stuff. In this area, usually about 10 inches of snow is equivalent to about 1 inch of rain. This snow was so dry that it was a 40:1 ratio, so in terms of rain equivalent, it was only a little more than a half-inch rain equivalent. In my apartment complex, we had the bucket and broom brigades out all day yesterday - nice sunny, gorgeous day. Not many people had shovels since we generally don't get more snow than the apartment staff can handle. With what blew off the building across the street, I had about 3 feet of snow on top of my car. Unfortunately, I don't have any good pictures. My apartment view just isn't that great. Today, the apartment staff had a fleet of front-end bucket loaders to clear most of what's left. Over the weekend, all public transit was cancelled except for the metro system which could only run their underground stations. Of course, now the main problem is black ice and the usual stupid people trying to drive 50 mph on black ice. Most schools and a lot of businesses were closed today. Some of the public transit was still operating on limited service, people were still clearing sidewalks and the road crews are still clearing roads. On the beltway, some of the lanes were blocked with big piles of snow that they hauled away today, but not before a few vehicles tried to take them on and lost. Tomorrow, just about everything should be open again. The news is reporting the malls are total gridlock tonight as people try to get their Christmas shopping finished.
