Another Time Lapse.........

Post by starfire »

I had been without a computer for a while. Picked up a nasty virus which disabled McAfee first and proceeded to corrupt everything I guess.

My son in law, Todd, finally got it wiped and reloaded.

Will post more at a later time, but I'm OK.

Sure glad to hear you are alright. I knew you were having a tough time around the holidays.

Thanks for letting us know.

I'm glad your son-in-law was able to diagnose and fix the problem. It sounds like he had to format and restore the entire hard drive - that's a major project.

are computer viruses and their impact better or worse than our MC Devil??? (or the same)

happens at the most inconveniencing time
quite often out of our control
time, patience and diligence to fix

yep i think they are the same

Hi Shirley,

It's good to see a post from you again, and to "hear" that you're OK. - I was wondering what was happening. It's also good to hear that Todd feels up to working on your computer. I assume that means that he has finally broken out of that cycle of repeat surgeries, that he was having to deal with, a few weeks ago - at least, I certainly hope so.

Welcome back!

Love,

Gabes,

You may be on to something there. MC and computer viruses certainly do have a lot of similarities, including the fact that both are a constant threat, and will wreak havoc, if we let down our guard for even just a minute.

 Yep, I lost everything I had on the old computer. Todd had gotten to the point where he was about to give up on it and he is pretty good at that stuff. I was getting ready to just go buy a laptop for now. (and I hate laptops, haha)

Yes, Todd is doing much better. Still off work but functioning much, much better. After the horrible time he had with the operation(s) he isn't willing to go back to the same surgeon for the reversal so I think he is perhaps going to have it done by someone else in Miami. Don't know when that might be yet. He isn't really blaming his current surgeon for all his problems but just can't bring himself to go back to him for the reversal. I can understand his position.

I have to take Mom for an appointment this morning. I'll try to get back here later today.

Gabes, I love your post.

Dear Shirley

Glad to see you back.

Ironically, I just did a back up of my data (first in six weeks - so risky!) and then read your post. Agree with Tex - constant vigilance is needed for MC and to keep those pesky computer viruses out... :hammer:

Shirley,

I can certainly understand how he feels, too. In such a situation, you can't help but wonder whose luck was bad, the doctor or the patient, but it's sort of a moot point, because regardless of who it was, it's always the patient who suffers, as a result. Since changing the patient is impossible, then clearly, the only option is to change doctors, to see if that helps.
