THE WEDDING!!! WOW-

Post by barbaranoela »

Well this wasnt a wedding it was an MGM production---
Firstly--every member of both families--from best man to wee little flower gals--and wee little gentlemen --walking with the flower gals--came strolling down the aisle--then the *maids* and the maid of honor--etc--
The churches of today are so *up-dated*--not remaining like the old fashioned warmness of the churches-from yesteryear--
I find them rather *cold* but thats me-
Every pew had flowers--and I mean not a skimpy arrangement--
The bride and groom sat in these gorgeous draped chairs (when me and L got married -we STOOD in front of the priest---
Anyway the new fashion in gowns---(no disrespect to anyone)to me UGLY--the bride and *maids all wore the new strapless look--which almost had their boobs poppin out--plus the bride wore a mini veil --just attached to the back of her updue hair!!!
I remember when my dad was ready to place my hand in Lou's--he lifted my veil an kissed me-and placed my hand into Lou's hand--and he and I walked up the altar stairs to the priest--
I guess I still like the old fashioned style--of a wedding--
thats the church --which was at 3--cocktails at 6---so being that we were like around the corner of the church me and L went home and took a wee nap ---too funny---
NOW--when we arrived at the reception MANSION--my mouth dropped--a place I couldnt even describe -in words--to do it justice--never have I seen such elegance--
Tell U---the dad--must have shelled out megga $$$$ for this affair--
With the cocktails came --a little scrimp snack--along with chicken--FOOD!!
Now U picture 275 peoples mulling around drinking and snacking BEFORE the dinner started!! UFF~~~~~~~at this point I am ready for another nap--I figure better reopen envelope and add more $$congrats--naturally we didnt--
NOW--we enter the dining room---like *holy cow* I cant believe this set up---ALL guests chairs were draped with this gorgeous fabric (where everytime I went to get up my *heel* got stuck in the fold!!!!) I was hoping I wouldnt drip anything on the tableclothes either--
I ate like a lady!!!hahaha--
The groom works with the fire department--so 35 of his friends with their spouses were there--the Bride is a teacher for children with learning problems--so all the parents of these kids were there---now add family---thus 275 peoples!!!
The band was ROCKIN and ROLLIN *LOUD* that after awhile I thought I lost my hearing--to talk to anyone at the table U had to talk into their *ears*--and they didnt stop--played right thru the party time---got up once with L. to do a little rock and roll--
Main course---- medallions of FILET MIGNON---a salad with a dungenous crab cake --sea bass--etc. on and on~~~~
we were 12 at a table--and all tables very close --hard to move---matter of fact a women passed by Louie--whose elbow --was perched half way over the chair--so as she walked by L--his elbow hit her in the ass--L said *sorry* she replies to L--*thats ok-kinder liked that little bump!!! We were hysterical laughing at that remark-
The bride went to an uptop balcony to thow the bouquet-which was quite different to see-very pretty--
AND--by the bride and grooms table was set up a box to DEPOSIT ya envelopes!!! which I thought was great cus how would 275 folks get up to give their gift---good idea--
So--there is more I can say---but it would be things that *words* couldnt describe-
All I know--this wedding was $$$$$$$$
AND---for the first time in a very long time---Me--Barbara---got all gussied up and boy I have to say I looked darn good--and as soon as I got home and as I sit here --I am back into my sweats and warm slippers--
Lou took pictures but unfortunately he really isnt too adapt using these digital cameras (which I dont like either) so -using not to nice words he verbally placed the camera DOWN!!!
I am taking out my old fashioned camera and going to buy a roll of film!!!
So---the place was awesome---a bit to crowded but the teeny boppers --could care less cus they ruled the floor!!! and we tippy tapped our feet under the tables--
Hope everyone is having better dayz--

Sounds fabulous.

I don't like the half naked brides and bridesmaids either. I think they should cover up during the ceremony to be respectful of a place of worship. I guess I must be OLD.

I agree with you, Barbara. I like the "old ways" too. Somebody in the family obviously has money to spare. HaHa Sounds like quite a production. Glad you had a good time.

Barbara,

I believe that's the most entertaining description of a wedding, that I've ever read. It's obvious that you had a lot of fun, and I have to say that I probably had almost as much fun as you did, just by reading what you wrote about it.

A lot of write-ups describing weddings can seem kind of boring, but that's never the case, when you write about one. You'll never see a better write-up, in any newspaper in the whole country, IMO.

Morning Barbara,

I totally agree with Tex. You had me there right along side of you and you sprinkled it with humor and the true sense of the wedding. I dislike the black & white wedding thing and also the baring of shoulders in a place of worship. A shawl or a small bolero jacket is fine and just take it off after the ceremony and out of the church. Sounds like a wedding I attended many years ago where the bride's ( a very good friend) father was a diplomat in Washington.

Love, Maggie
