Just spoke again with Allan and am feeling much encouraged!
Tex was able to come completely off of the ventilator by mid-afternoon yesterday. He had a very sore throat, of course, and two hours later was allowed to resume speaking a little. He drank some milk last night.
The first blood pressure drug tried was not working well, but a new drug does seem to be. Still no further concern about the heart, other then maybe some additional tests once Tex has recovered.
Fever continues, but Allan says antibiotics are being given. Allan hopes Tex will be transferred to a regular room today. He says there will probably be a lot of visitors today.
YIPPEE - it appears that Tex is on the road to recovery!

Thanks for the continuing upbeat updates! Wayne has some uncomfortable days to get through, but he's through this crisis and on the mend. It sure doesn't seem fair what he's had to go through, but he is always such an inspiration!

That is the BEST NEWS I've heard this past week!
Tex has so many who are praying for his speedy recovery and it seems that God is once again doing for Tex what He has done for so many others who are ill.
Now my tears are those of happiness for this good news.

Great news! What a relief that they're not concerned about his heart. It's nice to read that he'll be getting a lot of visitors, too. If we all lived close by, he'd never get any rest.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
wonderful news that some of the concerns earlier in the week are abating. (heart etc) and hopefully with the colon issue removed the blood pressure will also not be a concern.
thanks again polly for keeping us all informed and please continue to pass on our best wishes. I am sure once Tex moves to a regular room and he has interaction with people he will improve greatly.
Barbara - i will swap you for the weather. It is a very sticky humid summer here in Brisbane. it is far easier to rug up than try and cool down

PS: Thanks to Allen for being a voice for Tex throughout and keeping us informed.
