Finally! Here are some photos taken after the blizzard of 2010 in our yard. In the first one I am standing next to a snowbank taller than me in the driveway.
The second one is of Scott and Rusty, the golden retriever. Note that the snow is taller than the dog. Also, Scott is 6'6", so the snow is actually higher than you might think!
Where, oh where is spring???????

That makes me glad that I live much farther south.
Do you still have that pond in your yard? I assume that it's been frozen over all winter, anyway.
Thanks for sharing the photos - but now I'm cold.

Well, since you asked, here is the pond in spring, along with one of its residents. You are correct, the pond has been under ice all winter. We do keep a heater in it so there is at least a little hole for any noxious gases to escape.

Beautiful! It seems absolutely incredible that the sun can eventually turn all that ice and snow can turn into such a vivid and alive scene, doesn't it.
Thanks for sharing.

Love the juxtaposition of the snow and the spring pond. Seems that their is always something to look forward to. Either way. I can’t imagine what joy it must bring all year long. Have you ever read Annie Dillard’s “Pilgrim At Tinker Creek “ she writes with a sense of wonder as she walks by just such a pond or creek any time of year. Highly recommended!
The frog looks very smug. Must really enjoy living in your hidey-hole. Would love to hang out their myself and look just as smug.
I've been told by a couple of people that my area in Pa was just on the northern edge of the storms that hit you and on the southern edge of one that went further north so there was only maybe 6 inches on the ground a week or so ago. For some reason that often happens in that area. Maybe because we live near the Susquehana River.
Every so often (years between) we will get an extremely heavy snowfall.
