For Those Who Were Concerned, My Platelet Count Is 572,000
Hi All,
My doc called at 8 o'clock this morning, and informed me that the blood test I had yesterday, showed a result of 572, (thousand), which is down a little from the 643 result of about a week ago. Since it's down some, he suggested that we simply check it every week, until it gets back to within the normal range, (130,000 to 400,000).
I'm relieved that it's finally headed in the right direction, at least.
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
So good to hear that things are normalizing for you, I hope your incision is healing OK, that always seemed to be what got the most irritating. I was surprised that you said that they used staples - I think you said that, didn't you? My oldest D just had a "bikini" incision 2 1/2 wks ago and he used a special tape instead of any kind of stitch or staple. She has had no itching and the incision looks beautiful.

Connie,
Yes, the staples were removed 6 days ago, but I still have at least 10 inches worth of fairly irritating "centipede tracks" across my belly. Fortunately, they're a little less irritating every day, and the section that had opened up a little, seems to have grown shut, again, so all is well, at the moment. I don't think they were worried about my looks, and I doubt that the scar will win any beauty contests, in the future, but at least it went over the top of the precious incision, so I only have one long scar to to deal with.

Speaking of scars, my sister-in-law was in a serious accident many years ago with lots of internal injuries. Not only were her bikini days over, but she said the scar up her midline from crotch to neck reminded her of a well-trussed turkey!

Tex,
I have an upside down T from my 2 surgeries, I wish they'd gone over the old scar on the 2nd one. I had some staples get loose on on the "bikini" incision and to this day I have a 3" section that is still numb. Hope you don't have that issue, now that I'm so skinny you'd think I'd at least be able to look good in a swimsuit, but now there's all this "extra" skin to deal with. Don't imagine I will wear a swimsuit again anytime soon - or anything sleeveless. Oh well - always something!
