HMMMM......I have certainly gotten more information than I expected on my first post, but am extremely grateful! Thank you so much. I have lots to think about and lots to prepare for. I will certainly spend the money for the Enterolab testing (genetics panel). If I happen to have a GS/CS gene to pass on, I want to know! Whether or not the tests show GS, I plan on going GF in April. I am hoping for some relief. Luckily I have a very supportive family that watch me like hawks to make sure I don't eat anything that I am allergic to, even if it is just what I consider a "mild" reaction. I have had to change the way I cook (ingredients I use, mainly carrots) and they have handled it like champs (they LOVE carrots!!!)

Once again, thank you. I will keep you posted. I think I am at least going to look for some reading material on the basics of going GF so that I can be prepared in April. Our local grocery stores are starting to carry many GF foods, as well as a Health food store close to my house.

Oh, BTW, did I say THANK YOU!

Thanks for the site, it definitely is a good start. My husband and I discussed my going gluten free tonight and how that will effect the family. We also decided to definitely do the Enterolab genetic test panel. I have about a month to get ready for this big change. I know it won't be easy, but I have to do it. My husband asked if I was going to have the whole family go gluten free or me and the girls, or just me. I told him right now just me. It wouldn't be a big deal for my family to go GF with me, but my mother lives with us now and she is so set in her ways and it will definitely be a challenge for me with her cooking her traditional Mexican meals for the rest of my family. We are going to Branson in June, but lukily I will have another GF person to eat with and support me. Hopefully I will have a good ground work by then.

Traditional mexican meals are not usually the worst offenders, it's easy to go all Corn flour.

Sounds like you've got a good plan. Once I found out how much better I felt w/o gluten I haven't even been tempted. I still make food for my husband that includes gluten. It's really not that hard to avoid gluten.
