Wow, makes me want to be more sensitive to other peoples' diet-issues... now that I am GF and CF - Easter dinner at someone's house was really hard. I could only eat turkey (no gravy) and tortilla chips with homemade salsa. I did cheat and ate a little of the yummy mashed potatoes that had butter in them. No gravy, no rolls, no dessert, no veggie casseroles covered in crispy stuff, no wine.
But, I survived!
Easter Dinner at a friend's house was hard!

i hear you!!! some days i am fine watching everyone eat foods that i cant and other days i sort of look at the food with a slight amount of longing .....
Like Joan, I take my own food everywhere, and make sure i have the yummiest of my foods so i dont feel like i am missing out.
I treated myself to a glass of champagne on the weekend (all the others had drunk 3 bottles by the time i had some) so they were alot more 'merry' than I,but it was still good.....

Laurie,
Did you let your friends know of your diet restrictions? I have found that letting them know ahead makes them more sensitive and they always try to have something GF/DF for me. I also never go anywhere without bringing some food. In fact, I always bring a few backup things just in case. We had dinner at a friend's for Easter and I brought GF rolls and DF margarine, cake, and salad. You always need a backup plan because even if well intentioned friends try to make GF meaks, sometimes they mess up.
