15 Month Old Boy Loses Colon, Because Of Doctors' Mistakes

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Here's a sad case where the aggressive use of drugs to treat a young patient with an IBD, resulted in the disease becoming so bad that he ended up losing his entire colon. His doctors blamed their mistakes on a "new" form of IBD, connected with a genetic mutation. I blame it on their refusal to try a treatment based on dietary changes, before resorting to the use of powerful drugs.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Dear Tex

That is I very said story and I am sure there are many others unreported throughout the world.
His physicians continued to be baffled.

I wish GIs' "baffledom" led to more "openminddom".

Ant,

That's the thing that is really baffling - how they can be so closed-minded.

All I can think of is that Iowa Mom who popped in and out of here. She trusted those doctors a the U. of Iowa to treat her child w/o even reading here. Laura could have helped her.

Joan,

I think of her every so often, also, and wonder how her child is doing. I realize that we can't help everyone who needs help, but it's a shame when a child is the one to get hurt, because they don't have any say so in the matter.
