It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I spent the day with my fearless ninja granddaughter today. Can't think of a better affirmation than to realize that this precious girl would not exist were it not for my giving birth to her fabulous Mom. We did science experiments, made 3 colors of crystals, started a necklace with beads I've collected over the years, and sewed a heart pillow for her Mom. She is quite a force of nature for someone who just turned 3 two weeks ago. I may have passed on a bad gene or two, but it certainly didn't affect her intelligence.
I've gotten 3 beautiful bouquets of flowers and loving words from my daughters. I also got a beautiful birthday message from my "adopted daughter" in Australia on my Facebook page. I don't list my birthday there, and I was so surprised and touched that she even remembered. She came to our neighborhood at 12 to live with her grandparents and to escape a very difficult home life. We adopted her into our family, and she was at our house as much as she was at her grandparents. she became my 3rd daughter. Her prior childhood had been similar to mine and it was a very healing experience to mother this beautiful girl the way I felt I should have been mothered. So this message apparently kicked off many lovely messages from kids like her that are also my friends on Facebook, kids (they're in their 30's) who I mentored and taught, and were friends of my girls, as well as messages from my co-workers. I often don't feel that I've done much with my life, but it has been humbling and reassuring to see that maybe I really did make a difference in some lives. I hate birthdays, hate being the center of any attention, am most comfortable being the person behind the scenes that makes things happen and I can watch from a distance.
I truly appreciate all the work and dedication that goes on here, you have been such a great lifeline and I am trying to appreciate the fact that I'm still alive and actually feeling pretty well.
So, thank you again for the birthday wishes to this cranky woman, we have company here over the weekend and are going out to dinner tonight. Somebody else is cooking!
