Gone for the weekend a bit rough on the menu

Post by Laurie »

Wow -

I should have taken MORE food I knew I could eat. After 2 1/2 days at a retreat center, I came back really hungry. Took bananas and apples and corn tortilla chips and some almonds, figuring that would make up for any meals I couldn't eat....HA!!! I couldn't eat ANYTHING they served!!

Even the hamburger patties had additives - they didn't know what was in half of anything they served - there was a salad bar I picked on, which of course all the lettuce wasn't amazing on my stomach. Still in the gut-healing process.

After only being GF (and 90% CF) for a little over a week, that was a rude awakening! Better start looking into my options!!

I think I reacted to M&Ms - I'm assuming casein in there!

Glad you are here to take the brunt of my whining! Tried to stay off the topic of my diet and health issues with those attending. Gross if you don't deal with it yourself.

Thanks for all the advice! I should've taken more food!

Hi Laurie,

As you suspected, M&Ms contain all sorts of milk ingredients, plus soy lecithin. Maybe you didn't take enough food, but you did an outstanding job of resisting temptation, if you didn't cave in and eat something that contained gluten, on that trip.

Yep, this is always a good place to vent.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
