Anyone Interested In A Chat Thursday Evening? :gathering:
Hi all,
It's been several months since we've scheduled a chat. Because we're scattered around the world, it's impossible to schedule a chat so that it's convenient to everyone. Let's try to schedule one for Thursday evening, say at 8 pm Eastern time, 7 pm Central, and 5 pm Pacific time. I believe that time would be equivalent to 1 am, Tuesday morning, in Edinburgh, Scotland, and 8 am Tuesday morning, in Hong Kong, in case anyone in those locations has time to join in. I believe it would be 10 am in Brisbane, and Canberra, Australia, on Friday morning. It would be 2 am, Friday morning, in Madrid, Spain, and Groningen, Netherlands, so that's probably a bit late for anyone in that time zone.
If we get good participation, maybe we'll try to schedule some chats earlier in the day, so that those who are unable to join in this one, because of their time zone, might be able to join in then.
Hope to "see" you there.
Tex

Hey Tex, you didn't mention Mountain time at 6:00. However, Phoenix doesn't go on daylight savings time so I assume it will be 5:00 for me. Will write a note to check in about that time. Today it's off to the courthouse for jury selection. I hate driving downtown but will have to as it would take 2 hours and 20 minutes on the bus. Hope I am excused and can go back home.

That's why I didn't mention Mountain time - Arizona's policy can make it confusing.
I think you're correct, though, about the time.
Be sure to click on the "Chat" link sometime before then, to make sure that your browser can correctly load the chat room code, without any problems. The system uses Java, and if it won't load correctly, you may have to update your computer's version of Java, (it's a free download, of course).
Incidentally, the last time I was called for jury selection, when the group of prospective jurors was asked if anyone had any condition that might interfere with their ability to serve, I mentioned that I had an inflammatory bowel disease, and I might need immediate access to a bathroom at any time. I was advised that there was a bathroom right outside the courtroom door, but I wasn't selected for jury duty, of course.

I was dismissed from jury duty today. I was so happy as it will be a three day trial. Now I'm excused for another 18 months.
I am doing so well with my diet and the consistancy of my stools is good. I will need to write a long update tomorrow since I haven't written since getting back from the funeral in Wisconsin last week.
Chat link appears to be working.

Charlotte,
That's certainly good news.
Gabes,
That stands to reason. Java uses a fair amount of bandwidth, and it's often targeted by hackers, so most IT departments aren't very fond of it. The fact that some employees might spend hours every day, hanging out in chat rooms, isn't very appealing to administration, either.
Maybe we can schedule a chat on the weekend, sometimes.
