not feeling too hot today
I have been suffering through a sore throat that has been nagging at me for a few days, but finally got worse a couple of days ago. Feeling weak, body aches, much like I do when I have an allergic reaction to something I eat. So I took Benadryl, felt good Sunday, until I go to work, and then I had one of my ER docs look at my throat and he says I have strep. Only on the right side though. My left side doesn't hurt at all and is normal looking. GREAT!!!! I have my endoscopy next Monday!!!!! I have to get this cleared up by then. Luckily he gave me a prescription for antibiotics, so I am praying for a quick recovery so that my procedure doesn't get delayed. I have been taking Ibuprofen for the pain. I usually don't have a flare up from taking it, so I take it when I need it, mainly for unbearable pain. I still don't know the results from my labwork drawn by the GI, and still waiting on Enterolab (I should be getting those results this week). I will probably call the GI and see when I can get the results. I have a feeling she wants to wait until after the colonoscopy/endoscopy to give the results. UGH!!!!

Hi Romanita,
Sorry that you're having to deal with this, especially at such an inconvenient time. I hope the antibiotic knocks it out quickly.
Be sure to mention to the GI doc which antibiotic you're taking, just in case it might have an effect on the endoscopy results. I don't believe it will be a major influence, but she probably needs to be aware of it. At least by sometime next week, you should have a lot of information available on the state of your innards, and you'll be able to start planning your treatment with some degree of confdence.
Good luck with the strep treatment. I hope it doesn't exacerbate your MC.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I've always had immediate results with antibiotics for strep, so I imagine you will be fine long before your endoscopy. I was chronically susceptible to any bacteria before I went GF last August and have only had one episode since then. You will be feeling so much better soon. I've never had a problem with antibiotics since going GF.
Resolved MC symptoms successfully w/L-Glutamine, Probiotics and Vitamins, GF since 8/'09. DX w/MC 10/'09.
