Went to see my gi doc lately and picked up an information leaflet regarding treatment with LDN which is committed to trials in the treatment for autoimmune disease...Although the list below may not necessarily include mc in the titles but it appears that this form of disease is included in these trials...The trust is originated in uk but it also has a base in the usa. Here are some links...

LDN and Autoimmune DiseaseLow-dose Naltrexone (LDN)
In Brief
There is growing recognition in the scientific community that autoimmune diseases result from immunodeficiency, which disturbs the ability of the immune system to distinguish "self" from "non-self". The normalization of the immune system induced by LDN makes it an obvious candidate for a treatment plan in such diseases.
The experience of people who have autoimmune diseases and who have begun LDN treatment has been remarkable. Patients with diagnoses such as systemic lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Behcet's syndrome, Wegener's granulomatosis, bullous pemphigoid, psoriasis, and Crohn's disease have all benefited.
Because LDN clearly halts progression in multiple sclerosis, its use has been more recently extended to other neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease) whose etiology remains unknown but for which there is suggestive evidence of a possible autoimmune mechanism.
In addition, people with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome have had marked improvement using LDN, suggesting that these entities probably have an important autoimmune dynamic as well.
> Bernard Bihari, MD, as well as other physicians and researchers, have described beneficial effects of LDN on a variety of diseases:
Cancers:
Bladder Cancer

Ye, we've had discussions about LDN before, and frankly, I'm surprised that as far as I can recall, only one member has actually tried it, and she doesn't post. I'm guessing that LDN treatment is overlooked, mostly because doctor's never suggest it, (it requires a prescription).
Are you considering signing up?

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Angy,
I considered taking this after my initial dx, it sounds like a very promising drug and there are quite a few blogs, etc. where people talk about their personal experience with it. It is a drug that needs to be monitored and as I was going to be out of town for a month, my ND and I decided to just go with the L-Glutamine initially. The Glutamine worked just great for me, so I never needed to go the LDN route, but from all my research, it would have been the second option I tried. If I remember correctly, it's also inexpensive, which can explain why our MD's don't prescribe it.

Resolved MC symptoms successfully w/L-Glutamine, Probiotics and Vitamins, GF since 8/'09. DX w/MC 10/'09.
Yes guys i am thinking about signing up for that trial..and if i do i will update on the board
Im thinking that it may only be available to those who have failed with other meds...considering i dont take asacole on a regular basis..., i stopped it but only take with the ocassional bad flare...i have found that aloe vera juice (high potency) has helped with flares very well...
But then again the actual LDN institute may help me get on to the trials, but as tex said its got to be approved by your gp or consultant...
Stanz thats interesting about L-Glutamine, i havent tried that ...maybe i should..

Angy,
I posted my original protocol here: http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewt ... ght=#68897
My D and nearly all symptoms were gone w/in 3 weeks. I have had very few days where I've had any symptoms other than some gas and a touch of D that never lasted more than a day and was the result of being glutened. I think it has been frankly miraculous and I would love to see someone else try it.
I no longer use immodium and I do only 1 T. of the Glutamine now, have been doing that for the last month. I only take 1 ProBoulardi and have increased my Vit D3 to 3/day and also take sublingual B6, Folic Acid and B12. I don't do the coconut oil anymore either. I have been GF since August. I don't seem to have any other food sensitivities. I am a double DQB1, my Enterolab tests are also posted on this forum.

Thanks, Angie, and yes, I have spent a lot of time on the LDN.org website and many, many others. There is actually a ton of information out there, although very little on it regarding digestive disorders ( except Crohn's ) and nothing on it and MC. Are you still thinking of trying it?
