UP date on visit to KOZIN--GP---RENAL Doctors-interesting!!!

Good early eveining all~~~~~~

Yesterday went for4 month check up(lou and I)---Matter of fact just from L. telling Kozin *I got this little *tickle* in my throat--Kozin immediately sent L .upstairs to *heart specialists* and we all know what happened thereafter--

This is why I luve this guy----he is right on Target and doesnt pussy foot around~~

OK---to the point---my checkup *so far* is great---blood pressure reading---118/70----so I then said -*yippey--ice cream here I come*
[/b]I did say--lets wait and see what all my lipid readings reveal~~~

Anyway----Dr. Kozin informed me that --he feels I am toolong on PTU for my hyperactive thyroid(cus PTU can cause AT TIMES bad side effects--PTU given me by my ENDO-doctor---whom I also have the greatest respect for-- she is super~~~~and also does blood work up and tyroid scan etc.--so I am covered anwhich way I turn--

Kozen and Utica send reports back and forth---
OK--to the point---I saw ENDO today and we have decided to STOP the PTU--being I have been doing fine --and also due to the chat with Kozin---
I will have blood works done--every 3 months--to keep a check-
BUT this scared the bejezzers outta me---she said IF i start to have headaches--heart palpatations --lethargic etc. CALL!!
She asked if I READ the info when given a meds---*of course I do---and all the side effects scare the hell outta anyone but they have to cover their *rears*
Seems ODD that the day after I see Kozen(renal) --Udica (endo) decides to get me off the PTU?? To add Kozin pulls no punches--if he thought something *amiss* he would tell me~~~
Needless to say I drove Lou crazy with all the *how comes after all this time*
Thats me~~~~~~~ cannot accept a decision without worrying about *tomorrow*

Probably got U all nutty with this post--imagine how L. feels---he got a big headache after hearing me--

I know NOTHING about thryroid conditions... That said.. since you were being treated for over active thy roid..taking medications to reduce it.. I am wondering if just age, not sure how old you are, reduced the need for that medication???

My husband is in his early 70s. Several years ago he was told his thyroid levels were too low and he needed to go on synthyroid. He didn't want to take any medication..he is anti medicines... but after being told that thyroid lack of production without medication to enhance it.. could kill him.. he agreed to take it. Our family doc says as we age.. parts of our body start to fail us in big and small ways and sometimes the body can be kept going with meds. People at the turn of the century didn't usually get to live to 70+ so no one knew what different hormone etc producing body parts would need help.

Sooooo, according to our family doc, the thyroid most naturally produces less as we age.. it would seem logical that if one was taking medicine to reduce thryroid production.. one would need less as one ages????

Am I anywhere near the ballpark on what has been happening to you?

I really don't know much about thyroid or meds to change it. If you are concerned that there is something you were not told about, call the Dr.'s office and point blank ask. You are usually good about speaking your mind. Rather than drive yourself and Mr.Lou crazy, just call.

when this developed( back in 06) it was due to the fact that *nodules* were detected on the thyroid by Dr, Kozin during one of our check ups-( with nothing bothering me)--and *yes* I had biopsys---scans---MRI'S---with all good results~~~plus a radioactive MRI---which I had to swallow 2 pills---do the test and after---the radiologist told me to go right HOME--not to be among peoples---specially pregnant women cus I was radio-active~~~
I was going to go to the Mall but he said ---HOME--24 hours---

This is hysterical--after he gave me the Pills and water---he asks me---*where are the pills?? I looked at him --like is he nutz or what----I laughed and said well they are in my throat right now~~~~
The reason for the ? was due to the fact that some peoples --when they hear *radio-active pills---they actually hid them under their tongue cus of the fear of being *lit* up--I guess--and would then spit them out--
I was hysterical when he told me this---SOOOOO why bother to go and waste everybodies time==oh well~~~


Jan-----Im not *in a fret* cus my Dr, Kozin pulls no bonners----if he was concerned he lets U know---I got my blood report once and everything was way HIGH---his favorite saying at the end of a report is *CALL ME*
I usually peek (before opening the whole card) to see if he has written those words--if NOT than I know my LIPIDS are in normal # range~~~

Kozin would NOT hide anything from us---thats the kind of doc he is----no and he knows that I trust him TOTALLY~~~~
He just feels---enuf is enuf (thats how I shall word it)

i maybe down under and on a completely different time zone, but can definately *hear* a more settled tone, you dont sound too tired, and you were quite light hearted.

take your time dealing with the mosaic of life - your way...
