L-glutamine and my blood pressure
Well, there is definitely something to this L-glutamine lowering my blood pressure. I have been monitoring it twice a day for the last three days, and have not taken any BP medication for the last two and a half. Every reading is perfectly normal! Prior to this I was taking 10 Mg's of Atenolol 2x per day, and often had high readings if I took it when I was due for my meds.

Thanks for the well wishes. The D. is settling down a bit .. still no picnic but I am hopeful. I started a food journal too and am still waiting for the LDN to arrive in the mail. In a way it is good though that it is later in coming .. I want to try one thing at at time.

Linda, keep us posted; I am really interested in how well you do with both the L-Glutamine and the LDN. I have been taking the L-Glutamine (low dose) regularly now with Entocort to see if it will help. I am about to boost the dose up. I definitely think it has its benefits, but not sure it will "cure" me. Ginny
Ginny,
L-Glutamine is the only "med" I've taken (besides the Immodium initially) as well as probiotics, Vit's D3, B6 and 12 in mid Nov. '09. I started with 6 rounded tsp/day and now am down to 2. After 2 1/2 years of non-stop D, and going GF in August '09, the D stopped completely by early Dec. I was going to add LDN, but didn't need it. Maybe I'm just blessed here, but it has been nothing short of miraculous for me.

Resolved MC symptoms successfully w/L-Glutamine, Probiotics and Vitamins, GF since 8/'09. DX w/MC 10/'09.
Connie, I have followed your routine and have done a fair amount of reading on the subject, as well as LDN & alpha lipoic acid so I am definitely going to kick it in high gear. But do keep in mind that I have many food intolerances and I have also loss too much weight. My goal right now is to stabilize and try to add some weight back on. I have been doing the Paleo diet with the exception of rice and potatoes, but I am going to try to add pasta back in just for the calories. Dee has a recipe for tortillas that I have used, but I am going to substitute another flour for tapioca as well. IT really is a constant trial and error AND PATIENCE, PATIENCE PATIENCE! Thanks for all your research. Ginny

Cold symptoms are abating, D., not so much, but I guess the L-glutamine's anti-hypertensive effect, tho I think real , was just not quite up to the humungous task of keeping my blood pressure down when I am working! I had forgot to account for the fact that I had been off work for three last three days. This afternoon as I really got back into the swing of things with work ( read: got caught up in the stress and deadlines and all the work I have to accomplish by June 30th) my blood pressure shot back up to 142/96, and I had to take an Atenolol. I have an extremely busy, stressful job, and this is possibly the busiest, most stressful time of my year, so I am not surprised. No big deal though as that wasn't the reason I was taking it, after all. It just would have been a nice little bonus if it had worked for that too.
So Connie it sounds like you started getting results with the L- Glutamine in about 4 weeks. I am taking almost as much as you were ( 4.5 tsp /day) but flat ones, not heaping . Maybe i should up it a bit.??
I called on the LDN and they made a mistake on my address (put Ontario instead of BC! ) so it may take a little longer to get here, but they figure it will eventually as it has the right postal (zip) code. And Enterolab Lab said my kit could take up to a month to get here! ( Gotta love our postal services!) so,yes, PATIENCE, PATIENCE, PATIENCE certainly is the name of this game!
