Why Less Is Sometimes More, In The Medical World
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Couldn't agree more. Oh how I wish I had never gotten the flu shot that triggered my illness. During all of the tests performed afterwards, including an abdominal MRI, they found a benign tumor on one of my ovaries. I had the ovary removed, electively, and that caused a relapse in symptoms. Add in the Aleve that was prescribed for knee pain (due to gluten) that casued a huge problem and you have 3 unnecessary things that sealed the deal for me to be sick. Yes, less is clearly more in my book.

Hi Mary Beth,
I located that article after reading one of Dr. Briffa's blogs, where he commented on the article. He also made this remark about the pharmaceutical industry, which also appears to be right on target, and it says a lot about the pharmaceutical industry, in just a few words:

It's refreshing to see a doctor so open-minded.What the authors do not mention, though, is the sometimes cynical attempts of the pharmaceutical industry to paint their products as better and safer than they really are, to ‘invent’ illnesses for which they have the ‘magical’ solution, and to promote the use of their drugs for types of patients or even conditions that extend beyond what the evidence supports.
