started LDN last night

Not to worry about the thread. I was actually quite fascinated about the "hair rat" ... gotta start making me one of them. I have always had fine, thin hair that looks pathetic when I put it up. No hair loss,thank goodness.

Well, according to my now deceased MIL, she'd have had no hair w/o it and she was quite the amazing woman.

I'll keep collecting my "rat" should I ever reach that point. Not a bad idea whatever the case, to keep the hair that matches your hair, should you need it later. My MIL looked quite intimidating despite being nearly bald and was a real force to deal with. You probably have no idea about womens rights in the US, but she was a delegate to the womens convention in Houston. My kids grew up wearing ERA T-Shirts. They still have them. My oldest D has quite the literal shrine of ERA paraphenalia and her grandmothers things in her LR now, and in spite of growing up impoverished, she is in med school.

My youngest D lovingly does her grandmother as a character in her comedy performances. She had a powerful influence on all of us. Thank goodness I finally had a Mom in my MIL, in spite of the fact that her son was not a good partner, and I divorced him, we remained friends until she died and I was with her the night she died.

She was a great woman that I was honored to have as a friend, and the mother I'd never had, it is a good story in my life. She influenced me in so many ways, she empowered me to do things I never would have imagined I would do, coming from where I came from. She did the same for my daughters, she lives on through them and her other granddaughters. She made a difference in the world for women.

Joan, save that hair in your brush, you/we might need that at some point. Save it for LaVerne.

The weird thing is that there isn't much in my brush..............

I did have that decades ago when my thyroid pooped out on me.

Connie, thank you so much for telling us about your MIL. I love to hear stories of strong, inspiring women. Your love and respect for her came through very strongly in your email and I am still a little teary eyed from it! I am glad you and your daughters had her in your life. I have a MIL (ex) that I still visit and think the world of too, and I make sure my daughter knows what an amazing woman her grandma is. Last summer my daughter and I made a trip to go spend a few days with her.

Gabes, my relaxing week of doing stuff around the house was interrupted by a complicated job that I've been prepping all day and we shoot tomorrow, so much for relaxing and looking after me. On a positive note it's a small crew and it's on a stage and they know me and I know them and we all love each other.

Linda, I'm glad you didn't find my story inappropriate, I never know what's proper to share here, but I was just thinking about LaVerne and what a great role model she was for me and was feeling chatty. If it weren't for her I would never have done one particular thing I did that literally changed our school system here. One voice, one person can make a difference, I didn't do it alone, but I started a fight that we won. My MIL stopped an airline from expanding a runway that would have wiped out a marine treasure. We are stronger and more powerful than we think we are, all of us, we need to remember that always.
