wise words.......

Post by Gabes-Apg »

“If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue.
Make a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to
judge. Those are the three things the ego is doing all the time.
It's very important to be aware of them every time they come up.”
– Deepak Chopra

Dear Gabes

Thanks for posting...I agree so much with this way of thinking.

I am guessing Chopra's inspiration is from the great Indian epic, Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita where Krishna says
Still your mind in me, still yourself in me, and without a doubt you shall be united with me, Lord of Love, dwelling in your heart......

......The person whose mind is always free from attachment, who has subdued the mind and senses, and who is free from desires, attains the supreme perfection of freedom from Karma through renunciation.
Best, Ant

Wow Gabes! I appreciate your aim to obtain removing the attachment to food comforts. Woke my mind right up. I am an emotional eater and will have to keep that in mind and work toward achieving myself. WHEW that's a biggie!

Kim
same same for me - i was a big emotional eater. the food items and red wine i would have when stressed or contemplating a decision or to celebrate an achivement are not on the menu any more.

i am retraining my brain and tastebuds, changing 20 plus years of eating habits.
Acceptance of MC is fully embracing these changes, we have to effectively go through a grief process, accept the losses, accept the changes.
This is another facet of my acupuncture treatment.

As I do realize there will have to be life changes I go through, I'm just beginning them. I've given up alcohol, coffee, cut WAY back on red meat and now trying to figure out what else is messing me up. I'm also trying to read more food labels (although I'm not sure what I'm looking for) :???: I don't believe I've entirely accepted this whole situation. I've not gone through any grief, heck I'm still trying to 'act' like everything is honky dorey mainly for my family and out of embarrassament at work. Probably why I enjoy coming to this forum so much because I can 'talk' about what's going on with my body. For now it's just a day at a time.

I must say I am an emotional eater but the 10 years I have had this disease I think I have mostly overcome that. There are still times I crave food that I can't have but just reach for something else instead. It is a hard thing to overcome but with determination and good self control it can be done. Still would love to have that big piece of "real" chocolate cake.

Love, Maggie
